forget the formulae for now. For 5500Mhz use path loss for 1km = 106dB. That is the only number you need to know. The rest is simple. The formulae is a square law, so: each time you double the distance at another 6dB of loss. To calculate your setup. Add all the components in "system gain"...

Hi, it will achieve the same effect, but I wouldn't say that it was the correct way to manage things. The best method would be in the gateway router, and/or further control at the AP. That's where you will achieve the best bandwidth distribution control. I use localised control ie simple queues in t...

Re: Bandwidth segregation Need Help

If you are suggesting that the 2 clients have 1Mb and also the other has 2Mb, then you only need 2 simple queues

Give each client an IP address

Then give one Max limit 1Mb and give other client Max limit 2Mb,

put those rules in your gateway router.

not sure if I am understanding your set up correctly.. As Surfer Tim said, post setup.

Well, unless you are using a 5Mhz channel width, those 2 services will be interfering with each other.

The bandwidth at 54Mbps is 20Mhz, so services on 2452 will also occupy 2442 and 2462..

The CCQ will start to elevate once the CPE starts transfering moderate amounts of data.

Try pinging the CPEs in question from your desktop or from the AP, and then monitor the CCQ again.

judging by the rate I would say that is a deuth attack aimed at bringing down your AP. I would start using the "management frame" in security profiles before the attacker gets hold of the broadcast address and uses it to disassociate each and every client to your AP.

Try this: It works for 5.4.... All this script does is to study the "running" status of the wlan1 interface, if the wlan looses connection (0) then the script will start to change bandwidths, firstly 5mhz. It will scan (whatever is in the scanlist or default), It will do this for 5 secs, t...

You do not need a program to work out path loss. Its simple, you just have to remember 3 things only. Mathematically AT 2437 Mhz the free space loss at 1kM is -100dB AT 5500 Mhz the free space loss at 1kM is -107dB Every time you double the distance, add another -6dB to those figures. Rb411R downgrade help

Guys I received a batch of rb411R, which had ros3.27 on them... Without a second thought I upgraded to ros4.5. (as is the rest of the network I have) Seems that the radio on the RB411R just does not play ball with Ros4.5. Those that I just installed continually connect and disconnect for no apparent...

Re: rb433ah interference between mpci cards

Hi Change IP I dont know whether its VSWR related. My experience used to be in the design of VHF and MF equipment. I have no practical experience in microwave design, however the theories remain the same whether its SW, MW UHF or Microwave. I also don't have access to 10Ghz spectrum analyser, else I...

Re: rb433ah interference between mpci cards

You offered to do some more tests right. What I suggest is to connect a length of leeky feedy to 2 RB units. Each end of Leeky feeder terminated into "PERFECT" 50 ohm loads. Couple the 2 units together, being careful not to expose either radio card to levels in excess of -50dbm Do the exac...

ROS4.6 winbox closing with Virtual AP

Hi Guys Whats up with ros4.6 and winbox. I often use a virtual AP when migrating services, or having mixed security profiles. On 4.6 when the "virtual AP is added" all is fine, you can adjust the parameters fine like security profile and SSID etc on the new window that opens up Then accept...

Re: Mikrotik basic setup

dude you have a 1MB connection.... now read the small print and tell us what your contract says. what is your CIR? 10% domestic use or 25% commercial. Is that download or is that upload. (I quote life in Spain) but many countries are the same. If you want to share this "adsl" you need to s...

Re: HOW TO USE MIKROTIK RADIO AS CPE

Hi dude. Now I am lost on what it is that you want to achieve. But to say, that you posted earlier that you were in "station mode" yet on the other hand you have tied two interfaces together internally to a "bridge"... That wont work in mac layer. UNLESS YOU USE STATION WDS. stat...

Re: HOW TO USE MIKROTIK RADIO AS CPE

Dunga, You are using station mode, but you have tied both interfaces to a Bridge. Someone shoot me if I am wrong, but you cant do that. Station mode has to be routed... (no internal bridge) you need gateway and routes added, and seperate IP ranges on both the wlan and eth. Or you can go the Pseudobr...

Re: RF ethernet filters in Fm towers

sorry I misread your post.. you are talking RJ45 connectors. Shielded yes, as there will be no contact to the frame of the RJ45 socket. But I have absolutely no confidence in that, so I make the drain wire nice and long, loop it under the RJ45 crimp (metal jacket). Back out of the plug with the drai...

Re: RF ethernet filters in Fm towers

I use shielded on my Tower, unshielded on my clients. However my tower also carries Ham Radio antennas Short wave and VHF... So with me it was a case of I didn't want to hear one whisper of noise from my MT RB's as for me my hobby has as much importance as the business. But of course it works both w...

Re: RF ethernet filters in Fm towers

Yes I see, I didn't scribe that very well did I. Anyhow, we have a lot in common. I was with NTL broadcast as project engineer on site refurbs as well as the DAB roll out. And I have done battle with the RA over a claim or excess deviation on an FM site, but the engineer didnt take off air readings ...

Re: RF ethernet filters in Fm towers

I have to disagree with NEST... Grounding one end of the ethernet is often a good idea. One end grounded = faraday shield and will not induce ground loops. However in your situation I would recommend that if only one end was to be grounded then it should be at the base of the tower tied in with ALL ...
