Re: S+RJ10 Alternative For CRS309

Fibermall 10G@80m comes with temperature reporting but not NBaseT support.

Ubiquiti UACC-CM-RJ45-MG supports 10G@100m and NBaseT but not temperature reporting (on CR309 at least).

Both should be utilizing the more efficient Broadcom chipset.

Re: RJ45 SFP+ Overheat

S+RJ10 is extremely power hungry - 2.4W over 30m. If you want really need RJ45, you are better off buying 10GBaseT modules that use the newer Broadcom chipsets - you can identify them by the max distance they support, which is either 80m or 100m over Cat6A and consume less than 2W at those distances...

*) ovpn - disable hardware accelerator for GCM on Alpine CPUs (introduced in v7.17);

What's the reason for disabling GCM? What issue was it causing?

Re: Starting with 10Gbe at home - CRS304-4XG-IN as option?

I am using a CRS309 as my main switch. On hindsight, seems like it was a great decision. -Supports L3 HW -Supports newer 10GBaseT modules such as the Ubiquiti UACC-CM-RJ45-MG or Fibermall SFP-10G-TS80 (both Broadcom chipsets) which are more efficient than the Marvell chipsets (eg Mikrotik S+RJ10). L...

Re: Is CCR2004-1G-12S+2XS a good fit for this use-case? [SOLVED]

RJ45 SFP modules do run warmer than their fiber counterparts, but those that use the Marvell chip like the S+RJ10 run particularly hot. If the SFP only needs to run at 10G instead of multi-G, you can try the Broadcom-based SFP modules which run much cooler and can be used for distances up to 80m, co...

Re: [SOLVED !!!] Feature request: HSGMII for SFP >1Gbps synchronization. [SOLVED]

I can confirm it's working on CRS309-1G-8S+ and CRS328-24P-4S+
Tried that with a Huawei MA5671A GPON-ONU.
Are you seeing the 2.5Gbps speed option on the SFP+ port when you disable auto negotiation?

I upgraded the CRS309 to 7.3beta37, and 2.5Gbps option isn't available.

*) sfp - added 2.5Gbps rate for SFP+ and QSFP+ interfaces on 98DXxxxx and 98PX1012 switches (requires disabled auto-negotiation); CRS305 is using 98DX3236, CRS309 is using 98DX8208. It looks like someone reported 2.5Gbps option is available in CRS305 when auto negotiation is disabled. However, I don...

Re: CRS305-1G-4S+IN w/ AT&T 5Gbps... horrible upload speed.

It is generally the transceiver that has to deal with the speed mismatch. In the case of the S+RJ10 and AQS-107, flow control has to be enabled and the transceivers will issue pause frames when needed. I have both of those transceivers, and when running IPerf tests with a 10G client and 1G server us...

Re: Can't force link to 5Gb on CRS305

Asymmetric transfer speeds with NBaseT transceivers?

It's likely the transceiver doesn't have proper flow control.

Re: RB4011

Just got the wireless version of the RB4011 with 10Gtek Copper SFP 1G for UBNT. I initially encountered flapping when the SFP+ port was configured as LAN with autonegotiation enabled and connected to the laptop. The issue was resolved by disabling the port's autonegotiation and setting the speed to ...
