Re: How do I allow DNS traffic from one VLAN to another? [SOLVED]

Word of caution, using pi-hole and DNS is tricky business. I tried doing it and ended up removing it due to the amount of weird scenarios where family members internet worked sporadically. Now I am a complete noob at RouterOS and there are so many ways to frig a setup that it should work just fine,...

Re: How do I allow DNS traffic from one VLAN to another? [SOLVED]

Thanks for another way to set it up. I love the RouterOS because it allows me to accomplish what I want in different ways. Though I'm always curious which one is more elegant and once I forget about it, how easy is it for me to grab the concepts back and trace my setup (that happens a lot :) I've al...

How to log Firewall > Connections to a remote machine for monitoring?

Hello, I would like to transport the data shown under Firewall > Connections (mentioned here: https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:IP/Firewall/Connection_tracking) to another computer for further analysis and monitoring. Here's what I know based on my research on this topic: I've watched some tutor...

Re: How do I allow DNS traffic from one VLAN to another? [SOLVED]

Just place a firewall filter rule action=accept chain=forward comment="VLAN DNS Access Only" connection-state=new in-interface-list=VLAN protocol=udp dst-port=53 dst-address=ip.of.the.pihole just before the action=accept chain=forward comment="VLAN Internet Access Only" connection-state=new in-inte...

How do I allow DNS traffic from one VLAN to another? [SOLVED]

Hello, I have configured my HAP AC2 to have multiple VLANs. One VLAN is for my home network computers, another for TVs and Roku and the third one is for guests. As it is configured right now, computer in one VLAN cannot access one in the other VLAN. This was the intended setup, until now. I now want...

HAP-ac2: Can't find Hide SSID Setting

Hi Folks, Thanks for taking the time to read my post. I have Mikrotik HAP-ac2 router that I use for my home. It comes with two Wireless radios: 2.4GHz and 5GHz. However, I can't find the setting to hide the SSID (or show it) from Winbox config when I open "Wireless > Wifi Interfaces > wlan-2" or "Wi...

Re: 2 Ethernet ports not working on HAP AC2 [SOLVED]

Had a brief look at your config. Potential issues: 1. You have assigned two subnets to the same bridge, this is not good LOL /ip address add address= 192.168.88.1/24 comment=defconf interface =bridge network=\ 192.168.88.0 add address= 192.168.9.1/24 comment=defconf interface =bridge network=\ 192....

Re: 2 Ethernet ports not working on HAP AC2 [SOLVED]

Suggest you clean up the config and use only one bridge. Much less confusing. Yeah its really easy to walk away and resort to simplistic solutions, isn't it. I have this configuration working perfectly on the HAP AC, so I know that this works. Plus this is what I need to have segmentation in my net...

2 Ethernet ports not working on HAP AC2 [SOLVED]

I have two MikroTik router boards: (a) HAP AC and (b) HAP AC2. I have been using HAP AC as my home router without issues for the past two months. However, when I recreated my configuration on HAP AC2 (export from HAP AC and rerun on AC2 via terminal) I've found that two ethernet ports are shown disa...

Re: How to control routing between subnets?

Hi There, Thanks for taking the time to respond. Here is a view to my config, the way I've configured https://imgur.com/a/Wpy5ef2 Note that I didn't feel it's a good idea to post my entire configuration here in the forum. But I'm willing to share as much as necessary. The two LANs cannot see each ot...

How to control routing between subnets?

Hi Folks, First of all thanks in advance for reading my post. I've recently for a new Mikrotik Router HAP AC and becoming a fan of it everyday. I've setup my router to create three separate subnets to segregate traffic and manage devices properly. The three subnets I have are: 1. Home LAN: 192.168.4...
