Re: Usage GPON module SFP in Spain

They sent me those specifications. Look at sshe file, there is how to connect to the sfp and get optical link parameters (and how to put them into excel) - I just scrolled through the file only so I might be wrong [emoji6] The document have some interesting information. I wish I had a module in my ...

Note 3, Grounded in Module
These specs are not always followed by manufacturers. Large clients may request different pin assignments.
On some networking site they did comparison of several GPON modules. Not all of them had ground connected to pin 6.

Same thread here .. https://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?t=140806 The thread you linked to has some similarities BUT it is NOT the same. Re: SFP RB4011

It all depends on the SYNC rate used by the PON provider and whether the PON Provider will accept PON transceivers from parties that they have no affiliation with. GPON standard defines one downstream data rate of 2.48832 Gbps which any GPON ONU/ONT has potential of receiving, regardless who manufa...

If Mikrotik implents the "micronets"-stack, what guarantee is there it will work with an all-in Arris/Technicolor/whatever-only-ISP and will you be able to modify the ISPs rules anyways? Nothing is stopping modem vendors from installing security certificate on the residential gateway like they did ...

Re: VLAN over Bridge

First of all, wait couple minutes after disconnecting the ISP box before trying your DHCP client. Some OLTs have MAC anti-spoofing mechanism. If OLT learns the same MAC address from two or more ONTs on the same GPON it will block the inflow from the last ONT. It also might be necessary for your DHCP...

Too late now to make any major investments in the GPON technology. Most large providers already rolled out in selected cities around the globe next generation XGS-PON or NG-PON2. These new 10Gb technologies will happily coexist with legacy GPON due to different wavelengths. In 2019-2020 more cities ...

Mikrotik makes GPON SFP modules. Not to be confused with GEPON (also called EPON) technology. GPON ONU work as end terminal device. Simply inserting them into switch will not make that port to work as an OLT. Please check this link which describes GPON technology: https://sites.google.com/site/amits...
