Sorting QuickSet by Signal Strength

The table of available WiFi AP's that are connectable from my Metal CPE in the Quickset menu are not sort-able by any of the fields. That seems very odd. It would make sense that you could sort them by "at least" signal strength. Is there a way to do that now? I'm still running 6.44.3. Maybe there i...

Re: Metal AC transmit power setting?

Thank You! I was guessing wrong about the gain numbers. I was thinking higher was stronger. Thanks again for the info. -Bill

Metal AC transmit power setting?

I'm not a radio geek but I understand there will usually be a setting to change the transmitter power so as not to overwhelm a close device and subsequently will help reach further away devices by setting it higher. I don't see that on my Metal AC device. I do see a "gain" setting. Is that something...

Re: One last Newbie Question.. Hopefully

One last Newbie Question.. Hopefully

I used GRC.com to test my connection to the internet and it says I have 443 open, which i really shouldn't and also port 0 responds that its there but closed. I was looking around for a setting about remote management which I assumed was the port 443 being opened. Not sure what to do about port 0. I...

Couple Newbie Questions. [SOLVED]

Using newest Stable OS on Metal AC device in CPE & Router mode First question, I cannot change my DHCP Scope from 192.168.1.10-192.168.1.254 TO 192.168.1.10-192.168.1.99 that I need it to be. When I edit it the Label turns Blue but when I click on Apply Configuration it just reverts back to the orig...

Some Metal Questions

While scanning for AP's from my Metal in CPE - Router mode I see this in the Quick Set screen and am not able to connect to any AP to get access. I have looked thru the WiKi and am not able to find the description of the color coding in the screen shot. The Blue is my internal AP for connections fro...

Metal CPE scanning setup

I see that using Channels on my Metal CPE there should be a way to setup so a scan looks for all 5 & 2.4 ghz AP's to connect too. Does anyone have an example for it scanning all wifi AP's the device can see. I looked at the help and it wasn't particularly helpful. Thanks in Advance. -Bill

Re: Need Reccomendation for Omnidirectional device

I received my "Metal" device today. It did NOT have the extra 4 holes on the bottom of the unit so it should be quite a bit more water resistant than the Groove I originally purchased. I will continue to look for a "rubber boot" to put on the bottom as extra protection against water intrusion due to...

Re: Need Reccomendation for Omnidirectional device

JFYI, recieved my Groove today. There are 4 holes drilled in the bottom of the unit along with the opening for the Ethernet cable. Not really waterproof at all. Instructions that come with it say it must stay upgright. Maybe the metal was the way to go after-all. I will call the vendor and see if th...

Re: Need Reccomendation for Omnidirectional device

Hey bigbills, that was an interesting article and highlights the versatility of MT products. The one question I have is.................. Does MT not have a decent LTE to ethernet product. The author seems to really love that netgear and actually pooh poohs anything MT in this area. I would be inte...

Re: Need Reccomendation for Omnidirectional device

You could just mount it bottom in to the wind and use silicone grease or silicone sealant to seal the cable entry I may just do that. Too bad I cannot find someone selling a boot or something. I wonder of that liquid rubber stuff would hold up to the sun? BTW. I did just find this article for confi...

Re: Need Reccomendation for Omnidirectional device

Remove the need for any length of attennae wire, the extra cost if any is well worth it. I was told I should not mount the Groove with the bottom of the unit facing forward on the RV due to water infiltration when driving in the rain. So that precludes me from mounting it on the Batwing antenna dir...

Re: Need Reccomendation for Omnidirectional device

Thanks Everyone!!!! I will probably buy the Groove model, I had figured that the metal would have waterproofing advantages. How long of a piece of Coax can I use so I do not lose signal? I am thinking it would need to be about 3' or so to allow the unit to sit on the roof with the bottom facing the ...

Need Reccomendation for Omnidirectional device

Hello, I am searching for a solution to replace my existing NanoStation used to connect to Campground/Business WiFi when on the road in my RV. Currently I need to find an AP by looking around for one so I can point the Nanostation at it. I then logon to the Nanostation, scan for WiFi signals, pick t...
