For omnidirectionals there is also the brand new Netmetal ac2 (HGO antenna has 6dBi or use even sector antenna)

Yes, but how to implement a weak signal connection attempt timer ? Connection attempts are "connectionless" like UDP. Differentiated settings for 2.4GHz and 5 GHz is somewhat similar to the weak signal timer. You always get in 2.4 GHz, and will move up to 5 GHz if the signal is strong. What if we ha...

Re: Best way to configure multi-SSID-AP with VLAN-breakout

My understanding is that "fraggle attack" (UDP Broadcast) is a variant of "smurf Attack" (ICMP), Did you not maybe had a loop somewhere and the Draytek possibly interpreted this as a "fraggle attack"? Yes, lots of ICMP, but the cleaned up Omnitik, with only one connection, must have caused that loo...

The problem is no device can connect to wlan2 ( AP ), then i remove security ( WPA2 ) from CPE220 and i can connect to wlan2 ( AP ). OK. Your wifi spectrum in the room is disturbed somewhat. RX rate is almost at the MAX speed (MCS08. See http://mcsindex.com/) In the TX rate the AP was not able to communicate with the 2 streams , only 1S. Is a sign of a distorted or disturbed signal (might have a too strong TX power set in the AP)...

Yes, make sure you connect to 5 GHz (you might use a different SSID for WLAN2). Use "onlyAC" . If you want to see what wifi overhead is for a small packet (no-aggregation) , and how it even gets as big as 99% for a 90 byte packet when having 866Mbps interface data rate. Re: hAP AC Lite - Missing a lot of channel

Don't use installation "indoor". Use installation "any" if it is indoors. This will include the outdoor allowed frequencies Mikrotik misunderstood the rules. There are no "outdoor only" frequencies, there are "indoor only" and "also allowed outdoor" frequencies. You are free to use the frequencies l...

Re: received disassoc sending station leaving (8)

Solution was to fix the bridge port setting with "learn=auto". Check your bridge port setting, and check your DHCP leases. learn=auto, dhcp leases 1d 00:00:00 . . . iPhone dissacoc . . . :-( I was not clear on "check your DHCP leases". It's not about the duration of the lease. It's about the fact t...

Re: received disassoc sending station leaving (8)

Surprising combination of settings. I'm not sure if I should be reacting on this. all interface rates for 802.11b and g set only MCS 0 for 802.11n (= 6,5Mbps only !). That is very low. this is for 2.4 GHz so no 802.11ac that could be helping with VHT MCS settings (and solve the MCS 0 only limit) bas...

Re: "No supported channel" in CAPsMAN when using channels 149-165

Installation: Outdoors or any. "Any" if the installation is actually indoors. As Mikrotik in some cases makes the mistake denying outdoor frequencies if set to "indoor". There are "indoor only" frequencies and "unrestricted" frequencies, and as such allowed outdoors. There is no mentioning of "outdo...

as the wiki says .... you need also the deny rule (no authentication) for signal range -120..-81 https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Interface/Wireless To make it work correctly it is required that client is matched by any of ACL rules. If we modify ACL rules in previous example to: /interface wir...

well well ... going back to Quick Set after doing anything in Winbox or webfig ... is a guaranteed way to get in trouble. Never ever re-enter Quick-Set if something has been touched. The benefit of being old and grey in IT. :-) Before those fancy fonts, computer output was done on printers and screens with constant width (equally spaced) character positions. One character was one byte. A screen had 24 lines and 80 columns. A large printer had 66 lines (11 inch paper) of 132 char...

Re: Bad performance on hAP ac^2 vs CAPsMAN AP behind hEX s as AP

Hi, usual mistakes .... ethernet interfaces that are ports to the bridge, are slave interfaces. Settings for them must be done on the bridge not on the interface. - Set IP address on the bridge bridge1, not on ether2 - Make bridge1 member of the LAN interface list (ether2-ether5 are part of bridge1)...

Re: My LAN won't work, what are all the essential actions I need to take in order to set up a LAN?

You just pick one subnet to be used as private range. Lets say we pick 192.168.100/24 as subnet. Most operators/devices choose 192.168.0.0/24, therefore we pick a different one, to avoid later conflicts. If we take 192.168.100.0/24 we EDIT in Winbox or Webfig (not in Quick-set and export-edit-import...

Very strange DHCP lease (2 subnets), maybe a switch of subnet after some portal login or welcome page? I don't have the certified answer, just have a wild guess. Anyway you can always add static Ip routes for 0.0.0.0/0 to each of the two gateways. Give them the same "distance", MKT will not use the ...

Re: Weak signal strength(?) with brand new wAP acs [SOLVED]

Don't test too long. Everything is perfectly normal. Radio power is set to =" regulated EIRP - set antenna gain in config - 3dB for 2 antenna's" Emitted EIRP = "radio power + real physical antenna gain + 3 dB for 2 antenna" Real antenna gain for wAp ac is 2dBi (dB gain versus i sotropic radiation). ...

Re: Remove bridge from RB750Gr3

I don't think you need firewall rules, if you only need L2 isolation (broadcast domain)

networks connected to eth2-5 interfaces must be isolated at Level2.

The NAT/masquerade rule is in the default config, for interfaces in the WAN interface list.

You can edit the settings with Winbox, webfig or CLI terminal session. Once you edit anything then never go back to Quick_set. A good firewall to start from is the default one. You can export it from the default config and later import it in your own config if not built starting from the default. You might also find an export already on the Forum or Wiki. The default firewall one uses two interface lists : WAN and LAN . The...

With the default config, now ether2 till ether5 should be added to the LAN "interface list" Ether1 is member of the WAN interface list. And before the bridge (with all its slave ports) was member of the LAN interface list. "interface lists" are in the second tab of "interfaces" in Winbox. Those inte...

I can confirm that when MikroTik AP receive a strong signal from nearby, they will "mirror" the signal on another channel. It possibly is IF mirror or other overdriving. I can repeat. Belgium has the standard ETSI regulation from Europe. They caused radar detect on higher channels, and those radar detect c...

It would be nice if C could still sync to A in case something happened to B, but I can't find a way to retain that fallback mechanism without the risk of it getting stuck in the non optimum configuration.
