Re: password suddenly stopped working

You did the right thing!! Try connecting directly to the Router , and see what happens... If you are where using the "Default-Config" you can try using Telnet (IP & MAC) ,Winbox (IP & MAC), SSH, WEB (HTTP) If the Router is unresponsive and we assume you didnt do anything =) There ...

password suddenly stopped working

I have an hEX running ROS 6.49.1. I had disabled the default "admin" user and created another user with the same privileges - as is best practice. It's been working fine for quite a while, but this morning I found that I wasn't able to login to the web UI. I use a password manager, so it w...

What is "release" in your opinion? There is v7 on the download page. Apparently it was released somehow. I think you could have posted a more friendly reply. I would have told the OP that while it's still in beta, a lot of progress is being made. Also: "We can't yet give an exact tim...

Drink two less coffees a week and you will have saved enough money to buy another hex in 3 weeks, but instead get a hapac2. Bit better bang for the buck. I now have both the hAP ac2 and the hEX and I think I prefer the hEX. I was using the hAP ac2 as just a router since I have other things that I p...

Re: MikroTik Audience slow speed WiFi, why?

A ruckus R710 is a pretty dated unit. An R510 or R610 is newer and I would take a R610 over the R710 anyday. Now lets also skip the B--L$h!+. Ruckus has been on Promo for nearly 2 years. The $650 R510 is readily available on Amazon for ~$250. AND STOMPS ALL OVER THE AUDIENCE. I have an R500 that I ...

Re: MikroTik Audience slow speed WiFi, why?

If you are just using default setting, you are most probably using 5G1, and it's managed by CAPsMAN, 5G1 is slower + CAPsMAN is slower, result in much slower is reasonable. Set the wlan3 to AP bridge, set basic rate to 12mbps and 24mbps, supported rate from 12bmps to 54mbps and connect to it, you w...

You can check this wiki page: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Network_configuration/Wireless#iwlwifi I'll have to try this too. Re: Hap AC2 - crap wifi 5GHz

There is a LOT of misunderstanding in the wifi world. On-line shops still claim they have the more powerfull, very strong signal, APs. Far above the legal and usefull limits (26dBm( radio)+8dBm (antenna gain)+3dBm (2 antennas)). It does only give you a 5-bar signal reading on your smartphone, but n...

Re: Recommend way to block Ads with Mikrotik

I have actually switched to using a Raspberry Pi 3 b+ for Pi-hole. I wanted to do DNS over HTTPS, and I used the cloudflare proxy for this. Cloudflare has dropped support for old Raspberry Pis, so the Zero W was only able to run an older version of cloudflared. I ran into some problems with that ol...

Re: Recommend way to block Ads with Mikrotik

I use Pi-hole and find that it works quite well. It doesn't slow anything down. In fact, it speeds up browsing because I'm not pulling in as many ads. I had it running on a Raspberry Pi Zero W and the performance was excellent. I saw far fewer ads on all of my devices, and not just via web browser. ...

Re: Audience vs Eero?

I found an Audience at a very good price recently and got it to replace an hAP ac2 because my wife said she likes the way the Audience looks. I don't really need a mesh network or multiple APs in my house, so I switched the Audience from mesh mode to straight AP mode. (This turns off the CAPSMAN man...

For me it then sounds like you have a time problem. Its important that all clock is synced by using NTP. Look at time on your router and on Splunk server. It should be within the same second. Yes! What Jotne said! :-) It is extremely important to make sure the clocks on your devices and your Splunk...

I prefer to stay on 6.45.1 until Mikrotik team stops this storm of bugs and lets the community know we can safely update avoiding significant issues. Otherwise will have to think twice if it's worth using Mikrotik hardware once you may quite unexpectedly get a swarm of bugs and issues. They do warn...

If any is interested, I have a rather complex rsyslog to handle non standard syslog packed that also add time stamp if that is missing on incoming packets. Re: Using Splunk to analyse MikroTik logs 2.7 (Graphing everything)

It need to be UDP/514. Its there Router OS sends its syslog. But: If you use UDP/514, you need to run Splunk as root user. (allow ports below 1024 need root permission) If you can not do that, there are two workaround. 1. Send syslog to other port above 1023, like 1514 for UDP syslog. 2. Set up a l...
