Re: Understanding how traffic travels through MikroTik on SWoS

Your description and drawing don't match, so it's really hard to tell what you are trying to do. i will post more pictures to help explain what im seeing going on. basically the mikrotik switch is inbetween to cisco switches.. but the cisco switches are behaving as if the mikrotik switch isnt even ...

16K host entries

im looking for some 10 gig switches and i noticed a few on amazon that said host take 16k. What happens if the network actually gets more then 16k hosts, will the network then drop?
Sorry if its a silly question im just trying to understand mikrotik.

Thank you

Re: CRS317-1G-16S+RM - VLAN creation required?

You do not need to create any VLAN for act as simply a switch with all "trunk" ports. Well i will actually probably need to create a vlan for my public ips to come in. so a few access ports or ports with default vlans. so if i were to start create vlans would that mean i start creating on...

Re: Mikrotik CRS317-1G-16S+RM to cisco 2960

A 1G SFP between the two switches works with no problem. Be sure to set the speed on both sides. You may find this helpful for configuration: https://stubarea51.net/2019/02/06/cisco-to-mikrotik-switching-and-vlans/ since im so new to mikrotik im a little intimidated with using router OS. Is there a...

CRS317-1G-16S+RM - VLAN creation required?

the main reason i ordered this switch was so that i could connect to a dell r210 server running pfsense with 10gig interfaces. and also because there will probably be about 25 switches in this network and at a minimum of 8,000 clients on this network. so i wanted to connect as many switch to this sw...

MikroTik CRS317-1G-16S+RM to Cisco 2960s..Port channel?

So I have a big event coming up so i needed to get myself a good core 10gig switch. so i got myself the CRS317-1G-16S+RM, but the majority of the edge switches were all going to be 2960s that are mainly 1 gig. and there is probably going a few switches connecting off some of these edge switches.. so...

Mikrotik CRS317-1G-16S+RM to cisco 2960

Anyone had an experience hooking up the CRS317-1G-16S+RM to an older Cisco 2960S at 1gig (most the cisco switch sfp will do) Still waiting on the CRS317-1G-16S+RM to come in.

Management VLAN?

I will be using the CRS317-1G-16S+RM. And i typically have all my cisco switches on a management vlan by addressing the vlan with an ip i.e. - JoshSw1(config)#int vl 77 JoshSw1(config-if)#ip add 192.168.77.101 255.255.255.0 JoshSw1(config-if)# And i read somewhere that the switch os just becomes acc...
