CRS310 fan noise

Well, if you have a noisy NAS and want to drown it out, get the CRS310. The CRS310 fan will do that for you. It's certainly not a product you wany inside a house or facility. I had to move it to the garage!

No POE out on 5009? Want poe in to power 5009 and POE out to power Ubiquiti radio. Want to get away with a single Cat 6A cable to the site. The new Ubiquiti airfiber 60 HD, non bonded channel setup , will do 2 GB/S full duplex, so the 5009 2.5 gig ethernet port will support that. So with the 5009 SF...

Re: Newsletter June 2021 (#100)

The usage of frequencies above the 5.9 ghz space isn't easy in the USA. Sure, the FCC added additional frequencies, all the way through 7 ghz, but it's not as simple as just having a radio that works in that frequency range. Mimosa for example already run out to 6.4 ghz, but they still can't ship th...

So announcement says CRS309-1G-8S+IN, CRS312-4C+8XG-RM, CRS326-24S+2Q+RM and CRS354-48G-4S+2Q+RM for L3 offload but CRS317 mentioned above as working.

I have CRS326-24G-2S+ (arm). Will it take advantage of L3 offloading? If so, what else will?

OK - although I wasn't able to find it in winbox, I was able to change it in the terminal window

/interface wireless
set [ find default-name=wlan1 ] antenna gain=0

The radio is now running at 30 dbm.

Unable to modify TX power

In the USA, in PTP UNII-1 allows a maximum EIRP of 53 db, and UNII-3 allows unlimited as long as radio gain is 30dbm. I used to get the radio power up by reducing the Antenna gain parameter to 0. The option to do that appears to have disappeared in radios with attached antennas. So while I'm here wi...

6 GHz Band

The FCC is about to open up the 6 GHZ band - 5.925-7.125 GHz. Pretty much the same rules as the 5 GHz band. Obviously a big plus. Where is MT on support, and what will it look like? Combo 5 and 6 Ghz radio? New product, or firmware change to current product?

Response from MT support. "If you adjust the wireless configuration thew it is possible to use max Tx power without problems." What a horseshit reply. When you select regulatory domain, the expectation is that you are going to get the maximum allowed EIRP, not 25% of it. IMO, this shows a ...

5785/20-eC/ac(11dBm) So antenna gain is set to 19. MT reduces the output power to keep the EIRP to 30 dbm, 6 db below the FCC limit. Additionally, changing to PTP mode still leaves it at 11 db. It appears that to get the legal limit afforded by the FCC in the USA, you need to reduce the MT assigned ...

Re: EIRP USA

More curious issues. The Dynadish 5 has antenna gain 25dBi, and if you look at the transmitted power, its choked back to 5dBm. Thats a total EIRP of 30 dBm. But the FCC allows 36 dBm EIRP for the worst case PTMP applications, and a minimum of 53dBm for PTP. Why does Mikrotik reduce EIRP 6dBm below t...

So I'm confused - what's new? Is the 30dBm EIRP? Or transmit power? Because the rules state "Several of the FCC part 15 rules govern the transmit power permitted in the ISM bands. Here is a summary of those rules: Maximum transmitter output power, fed into the antenna, is 30 dBm (1 watt). Maxim...
