Re: How to monitor Mikrotik data in Home Assistant

How did you get the MQTT setup working so the router sends the same data as the HA MikroTik Router integration on its own, without any polling involved? Here my scripts: https://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?p=1079413#p1079413 It's required a Routeros with IOT package (so not the SMIPS). With MQ...

Re: How to monitor Mikrotik data in Home Assistant

Or use MQTT: here in this forum you can find some examplse (one is mine).
With MQTT approach it's the router that sends data, with the other it's HA that calls for data.

Request: IOT / MQTT for smips

Hi,
I understant that the complete IOT package can be too big.
But at least the support of MQTT would be useful, due to its inherent characteristics of lightness and versatility; great for monitoring.
Thanks

Re: Interpose router maintaining IP

Yep, the issue with that approach is that - but hopefully it will be fixed in 7.16 or later (it has been given as solved in one of the latest 7.15 but seemingly it doesn't actually work) is that the DNS (and consequently also the NTP) don't work in a VRF. In fact the DNS is not working. I was only ...

Re: Interpose router maintaining IP

The solution is at this post https://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?p=1064617#p1040832, thanks @jaclaz! I tested with a real router and all seems to work: normal LAN, web browsing, Email and Tailscale. The only thing that I'm not able to do is to connect to the ISP router (or another specific IP i...

Interpose router maintaining IP

Hi all, I've an ISP router and a LAN. 192.168.1.1/24 I need to put a second router (Mikrotik) between the ISP router and the LAN. It's possible to have the WAN port (ether1 of Mikrotik) with say 192.168.1.2, the Bridge IP 192.168.1.1 (so the SAME of IPS router) and maintain the LAN IPs? If yes, how?...

Re: MQTT to Home Assistant

A simple couple of scripts to send router status data to Home Assistant using MQTT. First script uses the "auto discovery" feature of Home Assistant to configure the device. It can be executed by scheduler at startup with interval 00:00:00 (so only once). #config :local broker "homeas...

Re: Feature request: MAC address list

+1 In some situations, being able to associate a name with a mac address helps a lot. The function could also just be related to Winbox, which could manage a list with mac address, ip and description. For instance, it would be easy to recognise a new device or an unwanted guest. Or see that the IP -...

Wrong use of example IPs in docs and videos

Hi, there exist some well documented ranges of IPs that are reserved just for this purpose: use in documentazion examples! https://www.iana.org/assignments/iana-ipv4-special-registry/iana-ipv4-special-registry.xhtml Are named TEST-NET-1, TEST-NET-2 and TEST-NET-3 and has the advantage of not confusi...

Re: User poll about using Winbox

1) tried but no way
2) saves windows position for each device
3) Make it works! Now it's a mess.
4) Not so much. It has nothing to do with "Layout"
5) No. I'm sad for this.

Re: v7.13.1 [stable] is released!

Having 11 bugs corrected "(introduced in v7.13)" is a very important (and bad) signal.
There a problem or with the testing workflow or with a (unfit) developer. Or both.
Adding the mess with the new WiFi/Wireless/CAPsMAN renaming this does me thinking :-(

@nicolap Have you read the beta and rc thread? But hAP ac is only WiFi 5 so the WiFi menu is useless. So hide it!!! And, as someone already note...

Re: v7.13beta [testing] is released!

IMHO this was a bad naming decision. It is causing confusion already and it is going to confuse - ongoing. Better would have been: * wifi-qcom-ac * wifi-qcom-ax Furthermore, better not integrating the new "wifi" config-module into the base ROS bundle already. Having a wifi menu without ac...

WIFIWAVE2 going backward: missing feature

Hi, in the old Wireless package there was a very important information: the devices attempting to connect (Connect List)! Now we don't know if some device try to connect to the WIFI. And to add a device to the Access List we have to do it BY HAND! Forgetting that we use Computers to work for us!! Al...

Re: v7.9 [stable] is released!

Many of the bugs fixed in version 7.9 have been introduced in the 7.8 beta. And many errors seem to occur randomly.
This is a sign of bad programming: before 'fixing' old bugs, you should review your development team.

Re: v7.9beta [testing] is released!

Hi Support,
in my experience those strange and random errors reported can be caused by uninitialized variables.
Once I see a similar problem with SNMP settings: a lot of errors in the log. Stopped when I enabled and re-disabled it!

I found the problems: 1) in one of the router the hostname was also in the static dns of ROS (hairpin...) so every time the new IP was different (the old was set manually the first time). Re: hAP mini (RB931-2nD) cannot /export configuration

Hi,
I had the same problem with this device on version 7.1rc6. It took a very long time to complete (>3h)
After the update to "7.1 testing" the problem disappeared.
So, I would try a configuration reset.
