Well, no issues today. I will update Tuesday so we get the business customers back on Monday. Although all the hotels that link is servicing I would have thought packet loss and speed issues would have already happened. Oh, there is a lot of VoIP traffic on the link too.

We just installed another LHG60G link that sits about a foot over an existing LHG60G. The top one point up about 15 degrees and the bottom one points down about 20 degrees. So far they don't seem to be hurting each other. Maybe tomorrow when a few hundred megs is flowing we will see an issue or mayb...

I have an ongoing issue with my CCR1009-7G-1C-1S+, where I get the fcs error on the link to my AF24. I have replaced to cable, connectors, POE and Ethernet patch cables. I have been running the old windows version of Dude 4.0beta3. I bought the RB1100AH4x Dude edition to move over to the new Dude 6.41.4 but I don't even know if I can import from the old version. Is it possible to import the data from the old 4.0 version?

Why hasn't MT started making it's own VDSL2 SFP Module? I know the g.fast modules are hitting the market so that should only help the case for single pair copper connections.

They have 3 types of chip sets. Two of them can operate in CPE or CO mode. I don't think the SFP can do CO mode. Not a deal killer but would be nice if it would do CO mode. I could use a 24 port SFP cage switch and mix and match modules, VDSL2, Fiber and Ethernet. I would use the RB's with SFP ports...

We use the VC-231 VDSL2 modems. They can be paired to form a bridge with one side set in CO node. Very nice when you don't need a 8 to 24 port DSLAM.

A few weeks ago we had a router issue so my partner thought changing the router would fix it. He grabbed the backup CCR off the shelf and plugged it in. We heard a pop and that was it. No boot, no light, no fans. The power supply was gone.
Can I buy a new PSU for it?

Yes fiber is the only thing you should think about with new construction. But there is no way to run fiber in a lot of these old buildings. Turn out that the rb2011 has an issue where anything on the gigabit ports is limited to a little over 20 Mbps on any gig port other than the wan port.

Ubnt dish is great. But you can't always use a dish of that size. Thats why I had to use the powerbridge in the past, but now that the price is a little better on these tiny dishes I can use them.

I have around 30 bad RB411 boards. Some have bad Capacitors so I changed them out with 680 6.3v caps. The replaced caps were 560 6.3v.

For the most part I would say it's the nice case with two built in antennas that attracts me. Something you can pull out of the box, configure and install.
No more metal case, board, radio card, pig tail and antennas to assemble.

I think 6 to 9dbi antennas would be fine for me and a lot of others.
6 to 12 inches isn't that tall.
For outdoor use most people are using sectors. So I bet most of us would be using them indoors.

I have seen a slow load time on any networks with maps in the background and they aren't that big. So I think the big map may indeed crash the DUDE.

In all TCP testing bandwidth is cut in half going through the hotspot gateways. To the gateway is 55mbps TCP but through it to an AP is 25mbps TCP. We are using the 450G and 750G and they both to the same thing. If I do a UDP test it gets full speed. So is it that the 450G and 750G are not good for ...

Yes ether1 is working. as long as one device is plugged in and not a switch. I tried plugging it into a dlink switch and a rb750g and they both make the POE light blink(short).

I plugged in another RB with a short patch cable and it did not blink, So I've replaced the Cat5e running up to the rb532 and it's still blinking.
I guess it's another bad board.

The next step is to replace the board again and if that doesn't work I'll be dropping in a NSM5.

Yes it does look fast,but at that price I would have thought there would be an expansion slot for T1,T3 or fiber cards. Or a Daughter board for more Ethernet ports

I don't use 2.4Ghz in the big easy for APs, so I used one of the 2.4 channels for one of the links on the dual nstreme ptp and it stop any interference in the nstreme box. The 5.8 and 2.4 panel antennas are stacked on top of each other. The link works great! :D

It's no record holder at under a mile but one end of the link is inside the building shooting through 1" glass with a mirror tint. The antennas are Pac Wireless panels 19dbi 2.4Ghz and 24dbi 5.8Ghz.

The PC should work fine. I have a link with an AMD 2.5Ghz on one side and a VIA 533Mhz on the other side and I get 45mbps full duplex in turbo mode. If I assume you are having your clients connect with standard WiFi cards/client devices then you will have the 15 to 30 max X 3 channels to get only 45 to 90 max clients on at any time. If you are using MT as CPEs you could, Maybe make a script so if it losses connection it will turn off the radio for a minute and then back on so that the others can connect. I had that problem for a while. I found out if you disable compression on your ap's it will go away. At least it does on my network anyway.

I did the dual nstreme link. I just did a test and it's getting 35mbps on send and receive. But on both it only gets 22mbps on RX and TX which totals 44mbps. Thats what I did the firt time. I almost always do it that way. But, I doesn't work untill you set an IP and connect to the IP. It doesn't work if you winbox to the mac address.

I think if you have all Atheros (AP and CPE) or all Prizm you don't have this problem.

Hello Brasil, I always recommend leaving the Tx power setting to default. If you decide to change it, just remember that the Xr5 has a 10dB power offset. Well it worked ok! the bridges are still there and the IPs and routes are all good. The system was a rb230 with SRC pcmcia and Senao200mW pcmcia in a bridge for the APs and then a SR5 for the backhaul. I also had simple queues that are all there and working fine. LOL, that was the first thing I saw when I got my first SR9. I popped the bad boy into a rb532 board with a SR2, set the SR2 in AP and the SR9 in station and did a scan. Guess what? it saw the SR2. I then put the SR9 in another rb532 and moved it about 6 feet away and it still saw the SR2.

I have a rb230ver.2.9.38 at my house that's shooting 3 miles to the main tower AP rb532ver.2.9.40. Lots of trees BTW. It makes a big difference in speed with compression on, I get an extra meg.

The Linksys routers have the option of: "Enable NetBIOS Broadcast"
All you have top do it check the little box and you then see all the shared folders and printers.

If someone has an easy way to do this it would be a good sticky or wiki.

I am tring to setup a pptp server on my MT that can pass netbios traffic to the 8 people connected to the pptp server. I want all of the PCs to see each other. I have two PC on the LAN side and 6 on the WAN side.

If you have access to the roof tops you could setup a 5.3Ghz point to point between them. Then use 2.4 and 5.8 on 10mhz channels for the APs connected to 90deg 17dBi sectors) both 5.8Ghz and 2.4Ghz. You should point the sectors down as much as possible so that you are shooting into the next building...

The best way to get NLOS is to use 5mhz bandwidth channels. But then the customers need to have CPEs like the Router Boards with ROS on them or LiteStation2 which now does 5mhz. I unchecked the Auth. Requires MAC and now it works.

Tonight I will set it up using a EoIP tunnel because I think that will be a better way to do it with out all the treicks to make it work.

Update!
I have a pptp tunnel from my pc to the MT and I set the mt side to local 10.5.50.1 and the remote to hotspot pool.
I can now get on the net like the hotel customers. But I cant get the hotspot screen, it just lets me go.
