Re: what can be used to power the 2-pin terminal of the rb5009?

I can't stand those bricks so picked up a Mean Well DIN power supply ( HDR-30-24 ) and a rack mountable DIN rail ( WatchfulEyE DIN Rail ). probably a stupid questio, but what DC output would be more efficient: * 48 VDC, current range ~0-5A, peak 7.5A * 24 VDC, current range ~0-10A, peak 15A I think...

Linking Two RB5009 Routers

I'm thinking I might upgrade my HEXs to an RB5009 and then add another PoE version and link them over the SFP+ ports. The WAN isn't more the 1G so I'd use one 2.5G port to connect to that. I probably can't use the second 5009 for WAN but it could server as a backup. Is there any reason this won't wo...

Re: Winbox Question

You must have the exe file located on your desktop. Try moving it somewhere else and adding a shortcut to the desktop instead.

Re: Setup VPN on a Router

I was looking into this a few days ago and ran across this. I haven’t tried it yet put it seems simple enough. I’m sure others will be along shortly to explain the correct way to do it.

Re: Networking Strucutre [SOLVED]

I'm no expert but, I thought disabling those ports would turn them off completely.
Also, you have set disable=yes to several important firewall rules.

Re: Deassigned and Assigned for most of my IP address.

Are the wired devices doing this, or just the wireless ones?

Re: Changing default IP of mikrotik

Use Safe Mode in WinBox when you make changes that "may" disconnect you from the router. That will allow you to reconnect with the offending setting removed. Also, if you lose connectivity via IP address you should still be able to connect via MAC address.

Re: Port Forwarding firewall rules

@ilja

I don’t know if you have it working yet, but I looked at your exports and I don’t see where you’ve done what’s in the Wiki link for Hairpin NAT.

Did you try it as documented there? Also, do you have a dynamic IP form your ISP?

Re: Port Forwarding firewall rules

@anav This IP Cloud looks interesting, but when I look at the documentation I see this note: Note: IP/Cloud requires a working license on Cloud Hosted Router (CHR). I'm not sure what this CHR is. Is that something we can setup through Mikrotik, or is that some 3rd party? NVM: I used my Google Fu and...

Re: Port Forwarding firewall rules

Just use the local IP inside the LAN

192.168.88.10:8123

Alternatively you might be able to use “hairpin NAT” or loopback.

Thinking About an Upgrade

I’m getting ready to do some upgrades to my home network. Currently I have a 200/20 cable service with the MODEM running to a 4 port ac2600 router. One of those ports has an unmanaged switch w/media server & BlueRay player connected. The other ports are PCs & NAS. The WiFi is the typical pho...
