Re: RouterOS 6.1 on Xenserver/XCP

I posted a reply in this thread... http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=69886 but I think I got the thread wrong in my search... >_<

The answer is to disable "viridian" support. I explained how in the above thread.

Re: ROS6 RC9 on Xenserver crashes on boot

Yes! I managed to get RouterOS 6.6 to run on XenServer 6.2. The VM in question was running 5.26. With XenServer 6.2 (and perhaps earlier) they added support for Windows 8.1, and this support is confusing the mikrotik upgrade/install. First you'll need a console to the Xenserver Host, so you can chan...

802.11n Slow

I notice alot of people in this thread seem to have intel cards as the clients for their home Mikrotik APs. I have done an install at a school I worked for where alot had atheros cards, but the others were intel. The intel cards also suffered poor bandwidth, usally half that of the atheros cards. Mu...

Re: RB435G Case

Well, some of us don't necessarily use all mini-pci slots, but prefer sockets incase one more more dies. I wanted the Micro-SD slot and the USB slots myself. :) I did find this on a google search though... http://www.i4wifi.eu/indoor-case-for-rb435g_d2537.html Might be useful if you don't like putti...

Re: rb 433uah

Oh definately not suited IMHO, CF cards on our RB600A chew all the cpu while accessing. If you want stronger hardware, could always go a x86 box with the appropriate license. Then adding ram, hdd etc is easier.

Re: Hardware Challenge

Hmm.. sounds like an interesting concept to me, especially when you consider nstreme's polling capabilities, or even the new NV2. Me, I like the idea of a mikrotik firewall/QoS device on a plug in ethernet.. :) Not too fond of the winblows one in Win7.. >_<

Re: SCSI and SAS support in RouterOS

Got a Dell PowerEdge 2850 at work, Doesn't understand the Dell PERC 4 card in it. (VID=0x1028, DID=0x0013) I have a 3 Ware 9650se unit kicking around at work recently, I'll plug it in with a few 80gb hdds and see what it finds. :) For the record, this server seems to like the 4GB SB stick I used to ...

Re: Ethernet Problem

Just a thought... Are all the cards in a bonding setup (LACP for example), and if so, are they linked at the same speed and duplex? Most switches won't route traffic down a wire if it's settings are slightly different to it's peers, and with 4 + 2 types of cards, a 5 link aggregate may have a link d...

Re: High CPU Load on RB433 and R52N

It may not apply to you, but I found my high cpu usage came from having DFS set to no radar detect while having a scanlist set to "2412,2437,2462". If I disabled the scanlist the usage fropped right down to 1% (No clients attached). Perhaps there are some settings causing it, have you tried turning ...

Virtual APs on R2N, RB600A V4.0b4

Just discovered that the following doesn't work too well.. Mikrotik RB600A V4.0b4 Mikrotik R2N 802.11 b/g/n WPA Virtual AP with the same SSID as the main interface The reason for the above security and Virtual AP interfaces is because this is a school and we want a secured network, and the virtual i...

Re: Mikrotik / Bluetooth !!!

Heh, Instead of the beeps at startup, have a mp3 sound..

But was thinking, could be trippy to have a bluetooth PAN option.. :D

Be fun supporting all the dongles AND keep the ROS install smallish though. :)

Re: Can Mikrotik RouterOS run on Asus Eee PC?

Just tried V3.10 on a USB stick in time-limited mode. It ran, but had no idea about the ethernet card. It knew it had to load the atheros driver for the atheros card, but no interface was available. Might need a patch on the wireless at least to use the AR5007 in these things. The Lan is an "Attansi...

Re: ERROR: Could not find disk! Please attach it somewhere else

Hmm... discovered 2.9.48 works ok on the flash that didn't work, upgrading it to 3.0rc7 brings the fault back... loads the kernel, then can't find the disk, only thing I can think of is maybe the USB boot support in the initrd.gz is stuffing it up somehow for some installs (3 other cards worked fine...

Re: ERROR: Could not find disk! Please attach it somewhere else

Now this is interesting, I installed 4 Compact Flash cards all the same on the same machine (Intel CA810E with CF2IDE adapter), brought them into work for the great keying ceremony, installed into a Intel D815EEA2 with CF2IDE. However, it isn't as simple as all 4 not working, no, 3 worked, one gave ...

Re: ERROR: Could not find disk! Please attach it somewhere else

If your system bios allows it, try ovverriding the Translation used, IE: Instead of auto, try normal/LBA/Large. One may work for your system. If so, then you may need a bios update as auto looks at the disk to work it out and got it wrong. i have had this fail regardless though. On that machine I on...

Re: Changing Software IDs?!?

Gets even better, used "dd if=/dev/urandom of=/dev/ad4 bs=16384" (Using PCMCIA to CF adapter on BSD) and now netinstall partitions, formats, then fails to mount, reboot, new Software ID. O_o I think I've lost AU$260 in licenses now, as how can I prove the disk is the one the license was for if it's ...

Re: Changing Software IDs?!?

Some more interesting stuff I have found... The first sector of the "harddrive" (Fujifilm Digital Memory card 64MB) Seems to have a fingerprint of some sort from bytes 0x100 to 0x10B. Zeroing these causes another software id to be generated. Be nice if it would generate the one I registered with. An...

Changing Software IDs?!?

Heya all! I do voluntary work for Townsville Wireless here in QLD, Australia. We recently purchased 4 licenses for deployment on Mt Stuart and other areas here, and during an upgrade to 3.0rc7 I realised there was not enough space on the 64MB Compact flash (I usually do a full install, and disable s...
