Re: Minimising and maximising Winbox alters ether1 window location and size

I have exactly the same issue. And I also use a 4K monitor. For me it happens for other interface windows as well.

Glad to know I'm not alone. I wonder if there's any plans for a fix because it's really annoying when working between multiple devices.

Minimising and maximising Winbox alters ether1 window location and size

When using Winbox after I set up viewing panes for various devices, minimising and maximising the Winbox application in Windows 10 causes it to move the pane for Interface <ether1> to the top left of the dialog window area. This is really annoying as it sends the pane behind other panes and you have...

Packet filters for sniffer support?

The capture filters for sniffer seem limited, understandably so but frustrating nonetheless. I'm trying to capture PPP LCP traffic which is a part of the PPP protocol. LCP packets fall under the PPP session (0x8864) so a capture will include ALL PPPoE session traffic which is problematic. This has b...

WHY? No idea. I contacted support and all I got was total silence, no replies.
It's effectively a physical access backdoor otherwise.
This way, the adversary has to implement possibly invasive + destructive measures to read the config (or non-destructive if they're skilled enough).

Re: MikroTik LHG LTE6 kit (RBLHGR&R11e-LTE6) Speed Downloads Drops

hecatae is right. You should check the carrier aggregation data for the link before and after the speed drop. This will tell you if you need to enforce Cell Lock. However, if the drop is due to poor signal, then Cell Lock might result in LOS from time to time. Play with the settings and see what wor...

mANT 15s (15D120) and NetMetal [SOLVED]

Hello! Are there any special requirements to use the mANT 15s with a NetMetal?
I refer specifically to Horizontal/Vertical polarisation, or is this passively achieved?

Re: Port Knocking to pppoe interface, then restricting access to single port? [SOLVED]

Not even the first port will show as open, if there's nothing listening on it. Port knocking doesn't need open ports, even connection attempts to closed ports will be seen by rules, and it's enough. The rule you posted accepts any traffic. If you want it to accept less, just add other conditions, i...

Port Knocking to pppoe interface, then restricting access to single port? [SOLVED]

So I'm trying to figure out the logic of this part of the wiki . I understand firewall rules (iptables, cisco) but I'm drawing a blank at what I wish to achieve. I think it's just my age. Where I blank is here: add chain=input src-address-list=secure action=accept So the IP address listed in the &quo...

And don't forget that if you lack LOS (line-of-sight) to the tower from your LTE equipment and you are behind a lot of walls, you may want to consider the mANT LTE 5o external antenna which has a higher gain than th...

After more snooping, it looks like this was planned as far back as 7th February, 2020. See: https://www.mikrotik.ro/index.php?controller=attachment?id_attachment=397 The brochure lays out Chateau models that use the EG18-EA, as well as a TBD on specs for a 5G NR model that supports n41/n77/n78/n79 b...

That is an excellent and informative response. Thank you very much! No problem. Keep in mind that my recommendation factored in a client saturation of at least 50 clients per 120° arc (rough estimation). I haven't tested the NetMetal series but let me know how the ac² performs as well as the HGO an...

Re: Mysterious Chateau CAT18

My guess: some reselers are jumping ahead by listing a product not announced officially yet. It happened before. So my guess is that MT is preparing for launch of this gadget.

If that's the case then the cat is most definitely out of the bag. :D

Mysterious Chateau CAT18

I've been browsing in my spare time and came across a mention of a Chateau CAT18 device named RBD53G-5HacD2HnD-TC&EG18-EA. From the pictures I've seen of the Chateau LTE12 , the Quectel EG12-EA modem is an LGA SMD component. So I was wondering: Does this mean external parties are modifying these...

Hello, Thanks for your response. I probably need to make myself more clear. I am looking for an adequate WiFi coverage to cover area of around 500m2 (a town square). I am not looking to amplify/extend 4G/LTE signal. Therefore, ideally I'd need a 4g modem + high gain omnidirectional wifi antenna com...

Re: LTE6 modem issue.

I think that the "quality of CA" is not good. You tested before your connection on a smartphone using CA? He's comparing between the R11e-LTE-US and the R11e-LTE6. The former (which he says has a higher speed) does not have CA support. The R11e-LTE6 has a wider band support but is not spe...

Well this is what happens when you lend your router to a friend. Get better friends :D How did they manage to break the SIM contact pins? You can probably buy the SMD component for cheap online and then reflow solder it, or use a heatgun. RMA is still the best option, as they will probably do the s...

Re: Running hardware portably using DC battery power

I decided to avoid the Makita battery packs due to the cost/performance ratio. The original 5Ah pack contains 10 x 1000mAh Samsung INR 18650 cells. For the same price as one of those packs, I can buy 10 x 3000mAh LG HG2 18650 cells. In 5S2P configuration @ 3.7V 18.5V, that's a 15Ah 6Ah pack. I also ...

For surveying, a power source from a Makita tool battery pack works well. Here's an adaptor you can make - Wow! This is exactly the sort of thing I was looking for.
