Re: v6.49.1 [stable] is released!

I haven't installed it yet. I'm waiting for the "big guns" on this forum to give it the OK. :-D

Re: v6.49.1 [stable] is released!

So is this version a "real stable" version? (Concept referred to in this post about how 6.48.5 is NOT a "real stable" version):

Re: WinBox v3.30 released!

Yes, that problem seems to also be present in others lists as well. Try "Interface List" -> "Ethernet" and select only the first 5 columns and any one at the end like "Tx Unicast". I see that another random column got selected. Now if I remove the "Tx Unicast"...

Simple IPv6 Configuration [SOLVED]

I am trying to get IPv6 connectivity to the devices behind my Mikrotik router (running the latest long-term RouterOS). It seems that my ISP provides only an "address" by DHCPv6, not a "prefix". Nothing happens (just "searching...") when I ask for a prefix in Winbox > IP...

Re: Winbox - MacOS Big Sur

(1) Winbox running under CrossOver for Mac works perfectly, even on Apple Silicon Macs. (CrossOver costs money but is a much nicer experience than plain wine. It has Winbox listed as a well-supported program, it downloads it automatically, etc.) (2) On Intel Macs, I've never had a problem using Winb...

Re: FastTrack-Friendly QoS Script

OK nevermind, I understand now that the answer to my question is this: To retain compatibility with FastTrack, it uses interface-attached HTB rather than global-attached (fasttracked packets bypass global HTB, but are still queued by interface HTB). Still would love to see that export though, if any...

Re: FastTrack-Friendly QoS Script

I'm attempting to understand this script. For some reason I couldn't get it to run, so I'm just reading it. Could someone post the /ip firewall mangle export , /ip firewall filter export , and /queue export as created by this script? I think this would improve my understanding of what's going on. Th...

Queue and Mangle Questions

Using some of the classic posts on this forum, like pcunite's QoS post ; mducharme's FastTrack-Friendly Queues post ; and others, I finally got my Queue Trees and Mangle rules running. It seems to be working great, so I should just step away from the computer now, but I have some questions. 1. Mangl...

Re: Feature request: NTP client: canonical name of NTP servers

A good suggestion! If you disable the ntp package and reboot, you’ll find System > SNTP, which does what you want as an NTP client. However, if you want to use the NTP server, you need the ntp package. In this case, you can schedule a script to resolve a new IP address, as discussed here: https://bl...

Why do most firewalls have Input rules first?

I have a few firewall filter questions. 1. Why do most firewalls have input rules first? Shouldn't they come after Forward rules, because there is so much more Forward traffic? 2. In the Forward chain (see below), we FastTrack established and related, and then Accept established and related. Why do ...
