The router is an x86 board with multiple USB and ethernet ports and the intention would be to connect USB devices and route data to and from those devices as if they were ethernet. Re: Dude notifications

Thanks for the help. I ended up setting an SMTP server in my Dude server computer and then aiming the notifications thru that server to my cellphone (xxxxxxxxxx@text.att.net) My question now is to delays. I applied a 15 minute delay to notifications. My clients currently auto reboot at 10 minutes if...

Re: new user,please help me

You are going to have to provide more information. Did you set the default routes 0.0.0.0/0 to see outside of the router to the WAN? Did you set a NAT? go to your firewall and masquerade the inside address. Read this: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/MikroTik_RouterOS_Frequently_Asked_Questions_-_FAQ#T...

Prism card problems

I updated my tower to RouterOS v3.rc3 recently. One of my cards is an engenius prism 2.5 card. For some reason, about once an hour, the card stops responding and all the customers registered to that card are lost. I can look at the card via winbox and if I try to run a scan or frequency usage, nothi...

Re: 900mhz antennas

Im currently using 5mhz bandwidth. My tower sits on a hilltop about 100 feet above the surrounding valleys (customers) it is behind a small tree obstruction (about 10 feet across). I am going to try some downtilt and see what happens.

SR9 poor performance

I installed a single 13db 120 degree antenna / rb112 / sr9 AP. I am trying to do some test shots from a similar set up (dif is a 13db yagi) on my truck. Any shots above a mile are crap. I checked the connections, replaced the cables (LMR400 24in long) and still no dice. It is partially obstructed by...

Re: WDS - Seamless Roaming?

I would set up all your clients using user manager on a centralized router. Then I would create new "routers" on user manager and enter all your towers IP adresses. Then, at your towers, set the security profile to radius authentication and point it towards your central router. Another way...

Re: 900mhz antennas

Very little noise. I sat running a scan last night at the AP side and picked up nothing in about 30 minutes. I then did a "channel utilization scan" and the noise would move from -105 to a high of -85 for brief periods with the more common reading been in the -96 region. I upgraded to v3.r...

900mhz antennas

Any recommendations on vendor / brand? I am experimenting with a couple of SR9s. The AP side has a 13db vpol 120deg panel. The client side (a mobile unit in my truck) has a 13db yagi and I get lousy reception even with LOS. 3 miles is the max and at -85 at that. I replaced the cable and checked my c...

Re: Using RB133c as CPE and as AP.

Another thought. I have a similar situation where on of my customers has LOS to my tower but his neighbors do not. I installed an RB112 (a RB33 would also work) with 2 radio cards. I have a yagi antenna pointing to my AP and an omni on a diferent frequency to feed his neighbors as they become custom...

Move your registered wireless users to the access control list. Then disable that MAC address.

Re: wepkey for each user

One way to do it would be on your ACL (access control list). Using WINBOX add the wireless user MAC address to your wireless ACL. Create a new Security Profile. Set the profile to "none" and check the RADIUS MAC authentication box. Go back to your wireless interface and select the new secu...

The above offer for a level 6 license is not entirely true. Re: Using RB133c as CPE and as AP.

Couple of questions. I am guessing that WLAN1 is set as a station and WLAN2 as an AP. Can the customer in this location (eth1) connecting to the internet? Why are you bothering with WDS? Just set your clients to station and leave the WLAN2 repeater as an AP. Also, what brand cards are you using? Pri...

Re: 300 Clients 1 Ap, its possible?

Try this. RB112 or 133 with a single RB52 radio per sector antenna. 3 120degree 2.4ghz antennas and 3 120degree 5.8ghz. This will give you 6 sectors, 50 users per radio. Connect all of it to an X86 box running RouterOS license level 5 or 6.
