Product Recommendation for Outdoor Mesh WiFi w/ Hotspot 2.0

Hi all: I am installing a "downtown wifi" corridor in the town with my office (per request of the city). I was planning on using Ubiquiti U6-Mesh nodes for my mesh. I will have a wired feed from my building, but there will be at least 3 other nodes that will NOT have a wired feed, but will...

Wireguard and MTU/MSS issues

Hello: I'm having a ton of issues with my Point to Point (P2P) wireguard configuration. Site description: Hub (main) has public IPs, and is a main router for the org Site B is a LTE-connected remote site with some devices that need direct routing in/out as well as an encrypted tunnel through the LTE...

Re: MSS-clamp equivalent for udp?

Ok, thanks! I think I'm having larger MTU/MSS issues, as its not working, but I'll post a separate topic for that.

MSS-clamp equivalent for udp?

Hello: I have a HD HomeRun tuner plugged into a mikrotik box with an EoIP tunnel that runs through another wireguard tunnel before getting to its destination. The HD HomeRun is a TV tuner for picking up over-the-air TV and converting it into a udp stream. There is no way to change the MTU on the dev...

Possible L2 MTU issues with EoIP Tunnel and Bridge

Hello all: I am using a RBwAPGR-5HacD2HnD for my home internet router. Its fed on LTE. To get around all the LTE double-nat junk, I'm also using wireguard to VPN everything from the router out to a pfsense box I own with a full public IP. Life is great, everything works awesome, all websites work fl...

Re: NEW FEATURE: Back to Home VPN

Although latency is pretty bad if relayed, things do route/connect. I see ping times in the 600-800ms range using BTH with relay from phone to router. This router also has ZeroTier, so if disconnect from BTH and use ZT as VPN instead, latency is about 150-250ms in same ping test. I'd imagine differ...

Re: LTE problems Quectel EC25

I think you were on to something!

I was able to get 11 minutes before getting kicked by Vz towers with the microtik. I did disable the neighbor detection, but the cloud stuff was already disabled.

Switching back to passthrough, I had 14 minutes before I shut down and went home...

Thanks!

Re: LTE problems Quectel EC25

So, another update: I've now tested 3 different Quectel EC25-AF cards. Two exhibit the same behavior, the 3rd a rather peculiar one...I'll start with that one: I found that it ONLY connects IPv6. If I plug it directly into a windows 11 system using a USB adapter, it comes online, but general interne...

Re: LHG R + EC25-AF = 5Mbps MAX

Ok, so I found it...It was the TTL issue. There is a note on the Microtik docs that attempts to address this (https://help.mikrotik.com/docs/display/ROS/LTE#LTE-Avoidingtetheringspeedthrottling) but in my case, it didn't work until I changed the TTL to 67. Don't know why, but I now have the speed un...

Re: LTE problems Quectel EC25

Now that I posted that, I am seeing one more problem: After being online for 5-10 minutes and doing "some stuff" (not all intensive like speedtests), I start to get a lot of link down and back up issues. It seems as soon as I send some traffic down the LTE interface, it disconnects, then c...

Re: LTE problems Quectel EC25

I have learned much since my last post :) The initial issue of the interface not entering "running" is because it is not successfully connected to a cell tower. I had thought the modem coming online and *looking for* a tower would be enough, but I was wrong. When it enters Running, that us...

Re: LHG R + EC25-AF = 5Mbps MAX

I was able to do another test using an AT&T sim on the LHG-R with the same EC25-AF radio and found I saw full speed. So this tells me that for some reason, only on the LHG-R, traffic is being reported to the tower as hotspot traffic rather than "native" traffic. All other devices (incl...

Re: LHG R + EC25-AF = 5Mbps MAX

Oh, I also just realized that the LtAP is running an older version of RouterOS. I think its still 7.x, but probably early 7.x, not 7.7 like the LHG-R. 7.8 is broke with Quectel cards, so I had to run 7.7.

LHG R + EC25-AF = 5Mbps MAX

Hi all: I've been really struggling to get an LHG-R up and going with Visible (Verizon) cell service to feed a remote customer. They aren't looking for much; its a business that needs some remote monitoring and ability to run VoIP and some websites. In any case, there's a cell tower that is line of ...

Re: LTE problems Quectel EC25

I inquired about carrier support and the -V model and was told that the -V has been discontinued and the -A model is its replacement. It definitely includes B13, which is the main Verizon band in our area and generally the determining factor if Verizon supports it. I was finally able to get it to co...

LTE problems Quectel EC25

Hello all: I have an LHG-R and I am trying to use a Quectel EC25-A or EC25-AF with Verizon to get internet at a remote location. I've been struggling for a couple weeks. With RouterOS 7.7, everything looked good, but the LTE interface would never enter running. I also am not entirely sure if the cel...

Re: Feature request: DHCPv6 server leases sync between two routers? (HA setup)

Just found this thread, as I had the same question. What you do (SLAAC) works fine if the dhcp network is the "edge". Where it doesn't work is if the routers are being used in an ISP or equivalent situation. For example: I am an ISP. I allocate a dynamic IP (/64) to each customer on my cus...

Re: RBM33G + 5G

Hello! I am planning to switch from LTE to 5G. Right now i got a RBM33G with a USB3 Adapter and a Sierra EM7565 LTE modem on it - all together with a XPOL-2-5G 2x2 Mimo Antenna. Re: RBM33G + 5G

Thank you! Apart from using M.2 SSDs in the RBM33G (and in PCs) I'm rather new to the M.2 word and the various standards, and also the relation to PCI-E. Ok, then I'll get hold on such an adapter. Can you point me towards one? Will for instance this one do the trick?: https://www.ebay.com/itm/14300...

Re: RBM33G + 5G

You will definitely need to use a PCIe to M.2 B-Key adapter. Cell modems are all B key, M-key is only useful for storage as far as I know. Can you provide info on your pigtails for the cell antennas? I'm trying to get The RM500Q-GL working in an RB of some sort (wanted to use a wAP-G, but there isn'...

Re: Upgrade wAP to 5G LTE

Yep, looking at the LTAP. A bit more than what I wanted to pay, and for some reason, the version without an LTE card is $7 MORE than the version with a (useless) LTE card....But that's a likely path I'd need to go. I'm also curious if it would fit in the SXT. I know its only 100Mbps ethernet; I don'...

Re: Upgrade wAP to 5G LTE

Hmm..hadn't thought about the length. Just got out a ruler and measured, and it appears the mPCIe is 50mm tall, the M.2 spec is 52mm, and because an mPCIe to M.2 adapter is needed, its going to add another 5-10mm, so yea...Unless the adapter is tall (and possibly too tall), no M.2 card will fit in t...

Re: Upgrade wAP to 5G LTE

I've done a bunch more reading, but one question I still haven't been able to answer:
Does the wAP AC mPCIe slot have USB2 or USB3 pins hooked up? Microtik block diagram simply says "USB".

Upgrade wAP to 5G LTE

Hello all: I have a customer who's only source of internet is a single T1 (1.544Mbps @ $600/mo!) or LTE. We tried a wAP with the LTE6 card in it, and it does come up and work, but yeilds only 12 x 3Mbps speed. The same SIM in an iPhone at the same location speedtests at 60x23Mbps! The only differenc...
