Re: mDNS between VLANs with just bridge filters - Look Mum, no containers!

I was tooling through the Help as it likes to change unannounced from time to time and I noticed and read about MACVLAN. ... This interface solves the problem of being able to do this bridge filtering technique BUT ON YOUR MAIN ROUTER . ... @UpRunTech Thanks so much for posting your experience. I'v...

Re: Request: Terraform provider & Examples and Modules repository

I think I saw this some time ago but got scared off by all the drama surrounding terraform licensing and just haven’t looked into it anymore. Terraform and Ansible were some of the first things I looked into after getting a Mikrotik device. Coming from a software dev background I could never underst...

Re: IPv6 issues: Want to advertise three v6 pfx w/ SLAAC [SOLVED]

I am still not sure how to convince the routing tables on laptops etc. to only route to those three ipv6 address blocks and perfer-v4 otherwise. Perhaps I need to just live with the default route and use firewall to achieve what I want? Maybe I send back an ICMP unreachable for all but the blocks I...

Re: Transparent QoS shaper (hex)

I'm looking to set up cake as a transparent QoS/shaper for starlink on a hex, I've tried a number of things (eg mangle rules for packet tagging) but I've struggled as I've been trying to apply it on a bridge. Could you please point me in the right direction to achieve this? - note it must be a brid...

Re: IPv6 issues: Want to advertise three v6 pfx w/ SLAAC [SOLVED]

... For the above question. You might wish to looking into controlling which "on link" prefixes your router announces as part of the SLAAC process (~RA packets). The router sends out on the locally connected "inside" network segments. Ah yes I'd forgotten about on-link! Previous...

Re: IPv6 issues: Want to advertise three v6 pfx w/ SLAAC [SOLVED]

For tunnelbroker, there is an example available on the old mikrotik wiki . I recommend using this as a starting reference point for your configuration. Thank you! I did go through this, which helped me back out my config, I ended up re-doing it with the HE examples on their site. In the end I had t...

Re: unset log and log-prefix in firewall

I'm also wondering this, unset seems to be an intended option but doesn't work.
set 1 !log
is also suggested in the scripting manual and this also is a syntax error `syntax error (line 1 column 7)`

IPv6 issues: v6 only for a few address blocks, v4 otherwise [SOLVED]

Hi, trying to get ipv6 working at home with mixed results. IPv6 access seems to mess up my web browsing and apps, but I need to connect to prefixes on three ASs that are ipv6. I’m stumped trying to expose three ipv6 prefixes to a local VLAN. My v6 upstream is HE.net/tunnelbroker.net - I’m getting a ...

Re: Anyone use LibreNMS?

I've used LibreNMS in a large network. No problems with Cisco, Juniper, Arista, MikroTik. For proper automation, you'd likely need a proper CI/CD pipeline for network-wide and infra-wide automation. Oxidised is there, but it isn't exactly a CI/CD pipeline company-wide. Hi Nate! What would proper CI...

Possible to set bootp file-name for an individual DHCP lease?

I'd like to set boot files for individual hosts by mac address, i.e. have my main mikrotik pass out firmware filenames for each host on my network. Is this possible? It seems like I can define bootp details per-network in the dhcp server config, but I have not seen a way to define bootp details in a...

Re: MikroTik Devices Controller

It is not clear to me what people want and expect... the { command; command; command; } construct already makes sure that only the complete set of grouped commands is processed, and then there is the "safe mode" that can roll back changes when they result in loss of connectivity. It is al...

Re: MikroTik Devices Controller

... give RouterOS 7 proper configuration transactions. The RouterOS configuration paradigm is already very database-like and, in my opinion, is well-designed compared to some of the big players like Cisco. A huge thing missing for automating Mikrotiks is the lack of native transaction support: the ...

Re: Port flapping RB5009 + vodafone modem

I have a pretty standard network config: Vodafone modem (Arris TG3442) -> RB5009 I'm using port8 as the wan port as the 2.5gbe port is best used elsewhere. Apart from that it's basically the default config from 7.1rc5. The problem is that the port keeps disconnecting, it's a bit random but I guess ...
