Are you sure that anyone cares about entropy?
Don't ask me, it is Mikrotik who create the passwords to some standard or expectation they have. I merely point out the security difference from changing the set.

Re: The Hikvision camera is not working with the CRS328-24P-4S+ switch

Your problem is highly likely to be addressing. If it powers up then PoE variations are unlikely to have anything to do with it. When you say you cannot ping it, where did you find the IP to use? What does "port 15 of mine" mean? What is your network? DHCP server? You have given very littl...

Normally I use Safari 18.4 on macOS 15.4, flawlessly.

For entertainment value, this reply is in current Librewolf in Debian running under UTM. No problems.

Re: Lightweight switch recommendation please

The OP was very clear: they specified four downstream ports. Add one uplink = 5 total. Done. Cameras use fairly trivial bandwidth and would easily run on the unswitched port on the Hex Refresh. Multi-port switches sold for camera use typically have 100 Mb/s ports, and that is ample. Configuring ROS ...

Re: hEX refresh/ as Switch ->Pros & Cons?

The Reolink has PoE ports for the cameras, and a single LAN line to the Hex or whatever. The Hex does not deal with cameras, only the traffic selected to be obtained from the NVR. @antoniocerasuolo have you ever checked whether your Reolink phones home? Firewall functions can be useful for locking down as well as for blocking out.

To clarify, are you accessing your NVR from outside your network? If so, are you relying on NATting in with its password or using a VPN?

MT1 is connected by Ethernet to the main router.

MT2 is a client on 2GHz to MT1 and an AP on 5GHz, the same SSID as MT1, bridged.

So you want a straight bridge, wireless included, not a router.

Search for full instructions. The basic process is to connect via MAC address, delete the existing configuration, create a bridge and add everything to it, with wireless set up as a DHCP client for connection.

Connect the camera to ether2. On a mAP ether1 defaults to upstream (DHCP client, not server) while ether2 is for downstream devices.

That is a first action. Without a configuration export neither I nor the people who actually know stuff could really comment further.

Re: Can't connect to new L009

Reset to default config.
Connect port I to ISP. It is a DHCP client.
Connect your computer to port 2 (or higher). It is a DHCP server, distributing addresses in the 192.168.88.0/24 range.
Connect admin with given password and configure the router.

Re: Can't connect to new L009

Winbox does not connect to which IP address? 192.168.88.1, the default? Connecting to a port which is not port 1? Using the password printed on the L009 label?

The WAN address assigned has nothing to do with the downstream address for your devices.

Would anyone who has done much the same care to comment on the following, whether to say I have the right general idea or to correct my course? Context is that I wish to connect a cctv camera to an NVR on the other side of a plaster wall. The NVR is the DHCP server for the camera of course, and conn...

Essentially, ROS is an application on Linux. To that extent, it is perfectly reasonable to make an analogy with tightly woven applications on MacOS, Windows or FreeBSD, not to mention Linux again. Staggering to behold, other routing and firewall software products also have bugs and upgrade glitches....

As a passing comment, the hap ax life is a usefully flexible little device. You are using one for routing, no wireless. I am using two for wireless (AP for Things) with no significant routing (I do keep a separate management network by habit). It is cheap enough that the additional functionality is ...

My recent experience is that some IoT devices want to see only WPA2, and will refuse to connect at all if WPA3 is offered, so try unticking that. I did as you are seeking, switched to a Mikrotik router with no problems using the same SSID/key. Since, I have changed the SSID and key (because it pleas...

Yes, really :) but thank you for the link. There appears to be some less literal interpretation of “search for 196622” that I have missed in this forum software.
