Re: RouterOS 3.0 VPDN?

I check back periodically to see if there is any progress on this functionality. This is the last feature required before our company (and many others, it seems) could fully replace all Cisco devicese in our infrastructure with Mikrotiks. We're a little disappointed this hasn't been implemented....i...

Re: Feature request Authentificated L2TP tunnels

Cisco-style VPDN compatability would be highly desirable.

Dude on RouterOS

What's the latest version combination of RouterOS and The DUDE I can run? I have a recent install (3.13) of RouterOS on an x86 system, but I can't find a Dude package to download and install on it.

We are currently running the Dude 2.x on a Windows server, but would like to migrate it to RouterOS.

ROS 3.0 L2TP Tunnel MRRU Bug

I have a RB150 (ROS 3.0) and an x86 (ROS 3.0), with an L2TP tunnel between them. I have the MRRU setting on both ends set to 1614, and I'm bridging across the tunnel. All traffic passes fine for a certain period of time, after which the tunnel stops passing all traffic, although it remains up at bot...

Re: PPPoE Over L2TP

I had an unused ethernet port in the PC I'm running Router OS 3 on. I added that port to the Bridge to which the L2TP tunnel is added, populating the Bridge MAC address. I've since discovered that populating the Admin MAC field in the bridge settings provides the bridge with a MAC w/o having to add ...

Re: PPPoE Over L2TP

Figured it out. The bridge interface on LNS was lacking a MAC address. I added a dummy ethernet port to the bridge, populating the MAC address. PPPoE sessions are established fine over the l2tp tunnel now.

PPPoE Over L2TP

I'm testing a PPPoE solution with 3.0rc10. It looks like: CLIENT<----------|------------->LAC<=============|=====================>LNS PPPoE_Client<->|ether1<->LAC_Bridge<->L2TP_out|<->L2TP_in<->LNS_Bridge<->PPPoE Service I'm having a problem: 1) The PPPoE PADI packets from the client successfuly tra...

RouterOS 3.0 VPDN?

Bell Canada uses the following model for reselling its DSL high-speed service: 1. Customer establishes PPPoE connection to local Access Concentrator (LAC). 2. LAC forwards customer session in form of L2TP session over established L2TP tunnel to L2TP Network Server (LNS) on reseller's network. 3. Res...

I have noticed this behaviour, intermittently on a number of Debian boxes as well. I'm not sure what triggers it, but it has only happened since we started running The Dude.

Snmpd will be running at 99-100% CPU, and has to be killed -9. Once restarted, it runs fine for a couple days.

I imagine that The Dude runs periodic snmpwalks of devices in order to discover new OIDs, etc. How else would the SNMP tab be populated with new data periodically? It appears that multiple snmpwalks are executed concurrently if the first one doesn't finish in time.

SNMP (Problems?) w/The Dude

I'm troubleshooting an SNMP issue with respect to monitoring switches with the Dude. It seems that the switches I'm monitoring (5 Netgear FSM726s) stop responding to SNMP queries every minute or so. The result is that The Dude is constantly adding and removing snmp data to and from the switches--ver...

Change your administrator username. -and- Use the firewall to block out all incoming ssh except from your trusted ips/subnet. NAS -> Cisco L2TP Tunnel Switch -> Mikrotik

Hello, I'm looking for information on setting up a Cisco L2TP Tunnel Switch to load balance incoming L2TP tunnels (from our DSL wholesaler) across 1 or more Mikrotik boxes. Some background info: Currently, we use a single Cisco 2621XM to terminate the l2tp tunnels, and provide pppoe service. We woul...
