Re: RANCID Config Backup

I have recently installed Rancid 3.2 and have been successful at getting it configured to run against Mikrotik routers. I am processing about 55 routers of varying versions of RouterOS, mostly 5.x and 6.x . The problem I am having, and it is repeatable, is when running the export command the output ...

Unable to restore configuration from backup file

I'm trying to prepare a replacement router. I made a backup file using the button in winbox under Files, this is v3.17 on x86 I transferred the file to a new RB493 running v3.11 (mipsbe) When I try and restore the backup using winbox, I get an error dialog, "Couldn't restore configuration - no file ...

Re: Torch tool broken, RouterOS 2.9.43

Ok, seems the nut that holds the wheel is broken......
Yes, if you check the port checkbox it will only show tcp and udp traffic which , of course, is the only
relevant traffic if you're checking ports.
I was checking all the boxes out of habit and not thinking, shees!

Torch tool broken, RouterOS 2.9.43

I opened the interface list in winbox and saw 5+mb traffic flowing through the router on 2 interfaces. Hmm, so I opened torch on one of the interfaces and did not see any traffic of high rates. So, I opened the packet sniffer and captured the traffic and found a lot of traffic of type IP Protocol 50...

Email notification test bug?

I created a new notification of email type and saved it. When I try to use the test button I get an error "Invalid TO address"
However, the notification DOES work. I downed a device and the email notification worked like it was supposed to.

By link monitoring I take it you mean a link from the mikrotik device to some other device?
I have snmp and/or routeros links from 2.9.30 boxes to 2.9.30 boxes and from 2.9.30 to 2.9.29 boxes and 2.9.30 to 2.8.28 boxes still showing the rx and tx link rates.

I've just started to get into all the capabilities of dude, not an expert with the dude by any means.

I upgraded 3 yesterday to 2.9.30, 2 were 532a and 1 is a PC. I just checked
all my right-click tools on those and they all work.

The link type is usually wireless or ethernet, sometimes unknown. It's always been an snmp link. And of course, it doesn't always happen. When I first started adding links, it happened quite regularly when I would intially save the link or try and save the link after modifying it. I have added many ...

kernel panic after upgrade routerboard230

I tried to upgrade a routerboard 230 from 2.8.28 to 2.9.19 and after rebooting all I get is a kernel panic:no init found

I used the all_packages to upgrade it, had a fresh new license which was sucessfully applied in the previous reboot. Now what? If I reload the CF, do I lose my license?

I had never tried torch from the command line. It definitely appears to be a winbox problem. I opened a new terminal in winbox, issued the torch interface protocol=icmp command and it works fine. While that was running, I opened the gui torch on the same interface, same protocol and saw no traffic. ...

Ouch, two of the routers I can't really touch during the day, so reinstalling is not likely to happen. But the third router is a brand new box purchased with the os. It arrived with 2.9.14 on it but I can't verify the problem existed in that version. I first noticed it on that box which at that time...

Well then, I need to find out what's up with mine. Or what can block the traffic from torch being able to see it. Recall earlier I stated I had a 2.8.28 that showed icmp traffic just fine in torch. Last night I upgraded that router to 2.9.18. Guess what? I no longer see icmp traffic in torch. Not on...

I'm selecting one of any of the interfaces, checking all the boxes in the Collect options, no ip filters and any port and for protocol either any or 1(icmp). If I have any protocol selected, and I sort on the protocol column, no icmp ever shows up. If I filter on icmp protocol, I never see any traff...

Torch not detecting ICMP traffic

Folks,
I've noticed with 2.9.17 and 2.9.18 that the Torch tool doesn't seem to detect/show any ICMP traffic. I've set up some pinging tests through a chain of routers and my 2.9.x Torch tools don't see the traffic but a 2.8.28 router I have in the chain sees it just fine.
