Re: Packet loss inside VPLS, but not out?

Hi spectrasurf, did you ever find a resolution for this? We are seeing a very similar problem with BGP based VPLS circuits and also routed MPLS. This is resulting in between 0.5 and 1% packet loss on the circuit yet outside between loopbacks there is no packet loss. Any assistance appreciated.

Re: RADIUS source interface / address

Hi Patrick, dont think it ever made it winbox, you can set it from the terminal though:
/radius set 0 src-address=10.10.10.10

Re: vrf problems

Hi All, I'm having a go at setting up MPLS l3 VPN's and can't get CE talking to CE, sorry If I'm hijacking the thread but its along the same lines as this. My configuration goes: 192.168.50.1/24 -e3-(R1)-e1-- 10.0.0.0/30 --e1-(R2)-e3- 192.168.51.1/24 192.168.50.0 and 192.168.51.0 are the customer ne...

has anyone played with rxa-txb / txa-rxb antenna modes?

The manual states (and thats all): antenna-mode (ant-a | ant-b | rxa-txb | txa-rxb; default: ant-a) - which antenna to use for transmit/receive data: ant-a - use only antenna a ant-b - use only antenna b rxa-txb - use antenna a for receiving packets, use antenna b for transmitting packets txa-rxb - ...

Perhaps not a driver then but an application that has similar functionality to the wireless SCAN and SNIFF features of Winbox /RouterOS that works with the PC's wireless card to show up MT proprietary extensions.

RB112 and WDS-Slave

I have a few RB 112’s deployed in the field, all have two radios, one is a 2.4Ghz access point, the other is a 5Ghz backhaul running in WDS-Slave mode. All routers in the network are running RSTP-Bridge. We have multiple setups deployed like this and all RB532’s work fine, however with the 112’s, in...

Mikrotik Windows Driver / App

I have for a while though it would be a good idea for Mikrotik to release a driver for windows or linux that lets you view mikrotik radio extensions, This would I guess only work with supported cards. It would be great to be able to use some of the features of RouterOS on your PC for network trouble...

I had one link go out, then the next day another link go out, I did upgrade all routers involved to routing-test at this stage, however this did not make the fault go away. In saying that I haven't had the same troubble again since upgrading to routing-test.

I was having alot of problems with both routing and routing test where both routers would sit in the INIT state. I traced it to MT sending the updates out on the multicast address but with the wrong source address. (not the same as the interface its going out). The only way i could seem to fix this ...

toRuss: Add a static /27 route to the router. redistribute static routes instead of connected.
That seems like an odd way to do things, what to use as the gateway address? localhost?

You cant use a static route because the gateway field is mandatory, and locking it to one gateway is pointless as it has nowhere to go if the gateway is invalid / down.

src-nat

As I said, that’s what I am currently using, however it is clumsy, as you have to add one for every address of the router. (sometimes up to 15).

Can you comment on whether this would be looked at for a future release?

OSPF Queries / Bugs

I'm using the latest 2.9.27 routing test package on 9 routerboard 500's. The routers are connected by fast ethernet and wireless backbone links, all point to point connections run /30’s and all /30’s are in the backbone area. My clients connect in via PPPoE to wireless access interfaces (on each of ...

RADIUS source interface / address

I have a request for a field in the RADIUS client configuration to specify originating address of RADIUS packets. The reason for this is so RADIUS packets always come with the same source address from the device. Take a scenario of 3 routers connected in a triangle, one of the routers has an Etherne...

Misbehaving Routers

I too have several router board 532’s that reboot with the same "system rebooted because of kernel failure" message in the event log, most of the time they come back up themselves, however some times they don’t and have to be manually power cycled. The routers are running mixtures of radios, all hav...

We are advertising 50MB, but atcually giving the user 50MB upstream and 50MB downstream, As far as I can see there is no way to limit it with upload and download combined. This shouldnt be too much of a problem though as most traffic will be download.

FREERADIUS and HOTSPOT Limits and Session-Timeout issue

I am developing a hotspot solution, and have a problem with radius. I’m running freeradius on debian, configured to talk to mysql. Not sure that this is the issue,

This is a plain RB532 setup with no routing, no bridging. It just has two wireless interfaces, an Atheros and a Prism 2.5. Each interface has its’ own /24 subnet defined. It is just a base install, at the time of 2.9.19 beta. Will try again with RC4 now it is out.

So far everyone has addressed the issue of throttling using local user accounts. Our network is in the situation where users authenticate via PPPOE, and are assigned an IP address either statically or from the routers dynamic pool, no matter where they enter the network. The PPPOE server then talks ...
