Hi all,

I have a RB433AH that had ROS 3.25 on it. For some reason I would not detect the wireless card(R52H). I then decided to upgrade the ROS to 5.14. I downloaded and installed the ROS 5.14 on the RB but after that the board does not seem to be booting. How do I recover this board? TIA.

Redundancy via ISP

I am planning to setup a small WISP system to serve 2 small communities. Site A will have internet connected to two different ISPs. I am planning to have a PtP link to Site B. Thanks for the response. I think I will try the 900Mhz radio in a RB433AH. What is the best 900MHhz radio for this board?

Wireless Frequency

Hi All,

If you had the option to choose between 900 Mhz., 2.4Ghz, and 5.8 Ghz for a 13km PtP link, over vegetation, which would you select and why. Thanks.

RB vs X86

Is there anywhere you can find a performance comparison of a RB based system to a X86 system with say a 700Mhz processor with 512Mb of ram and CF as HDD. Not concerned about power4 consumption. Other that the RB1000, what is second most powerful RB that can be used as main router, not needing wirele...

Re: WISP equipment recomendations

I think I'll be using 1 RB411AH and 1 RB433AH, 3 sectorials and R52 cards. That way I'll have an extra minipci port for future use.

Any recommendation on the exact brand of the sectorial antenna(i.t.o quality, durability, gain, etc)?

Re: WISP equipment recomendations

Thanks again for all your inputs. I really appreciate them.

I see that the R52N has a throughput of 300Mbps. You'd have to use Gigabit ethernet ports to support that?

Re: WISP equipment recomendations

Let me summarize my understanding. Install RB with 3 cards in weatherproof case on tower. Next connect antennas. Administration is via the WAN cable. Since ROS has a User Manager, all users will be controlled by this AP, ie on tower? So really, all I have to supply is WAN and power? One thing that j...

Re: WISP equipment recomendations

If you really want to go cheap, you can have 1 RB433(AH) running 3 Cards on 3 120` sectors and then just a LB router to supply it with WAN. This scenario would be that I install the RB433(AH) on the tower? I'd then connect the antenna with coax directly to the RB433(AH) with the three wireless card...

Re: X86 PC requirements

Thanks again for the response. Does the X86 version of ROS have the User Manager? I need to set up a PC to act as Bandwidth controller( to assign specific bandwidth to users by MAC address). Do I need to purchase a special version?

What is the minimum hard disk size recommended for a x86 system running ROS? Does the X*^ ver come with the User Manager? TIA

Hi all, I am considering becoming a WISP for a small community of about 100 clients in a radius of about 6 miles. I will be located in about the center of the community. Re: L2TP on RB150

Tried the bridging thing, but that did not solve my problem. All I am trying to do is to get my VOIP adapter to work through the VPN tunnel. Is there a way to let the VOIP adapter get a IP address from a remote server through the VPN tunnel?

Re: L2TP on RB150

I had upgrade from 2.9 to 3.0 in an effort to get this working, but I still have not been able to do so. When I try to create a bridge, I don't see any of the PPP interfaces as an option. Am I doing something wrong?

Re: L2TP on RB150

While using WinBox we have done the following:

Created bridge1
Added interface port 4 to bridge1
created DHCP client

What we were unable to figure out is...
while adding interfaces there is no option for our L2TP tunnel... where do we add this?
More details would be appreciated.
