I have the same question like you. I wonder if I could buy RB4011 without wifi and place the AP at a better spot using cAP ac. I won't get any benefit from the fancy antennas of RB4011 because there are walls and it will work better if I add multiple APs.

To install the route-test package you have to remove route package first, reboot and then add the package? Any chances to lose connectivity by removing the package?

I would like socks5 support. It's only socks4 and doesn't work with lot of applications.

If there is a difference 20+ db between signal and noise level you can't have disconnects. There are some bugs with the drivers or something on mikrotik

From the docs preamble-mode (both | long | short; default: both) - sets the synchronization field in a wireless packet long - has a long synchronization field in a wireless packet (128 bits). Is compatible with 802.11 standard short - has a short synchronization field in a wireless packet (56 bits)....

Yes it's from the log file.

The error that you are seeing happened to me with Prism senao. Also try to set preamble to 'long', not both.

As I posted in the compression thread, I also see this random link drop - sometimes after minutes, sometimes after hours. CM9s. The only difference I see is the links usually reconnect after a minute or so with no intervention. Sometimes quicker. Nstreme and 5.8 G turbo. Note this is in a very RF q...

Thanks, I think something is wrong with these values and atheros 5213 cm9. With a value '30' I think it performs the same as default under 2.8. I would also to know what's the default value, 17db?

tx power 30

Hello,

What tx-power= -30 means? Why to use negative values? Also have you tried to choose +30 on cm9?

I'm using atheros as an AP under 2.9 and whatever tx power you set it, the signal from all clients it's the same.

Also prism seems to not be well supported

polling and framer policy

Hello,

When running atheros in Access Point mode, polling and framer policy do they work for every client whatever their wireless system is or they have to use mikrotik and nstreme?

Thanks

prism 2.5, mikrotik 2.9

Any news about supporting Prism 2.5 under 2.9? Prism doesn't work properly, lot of problems with "extensive data loss" disconnects. Are you going to release a fix soon or we must abandom 2.9?

No! It's not fixed same problem exists with prism senao (using wireless package rc9 not legacy). They work only with long preamble why this is happening?

Ok it works the normal package only if I set preamble to long. That way I can connect with another prism on mikrotik 2.8.28. If I use prism as AP clients must set long preamble. There was no preamble option on 2.8 and every client could connect whatever the preamble setting was.

It's 200mw nl-2511mp. Is it necessary to upgrade firmware? It's not easy task to climb and get the cards and the upgrade requires windows.

I can live with that to manually change/add some rules, but how about wireless (prism+atheros), bgp, ppp, nat, routing, any serious bugs? I am also afraid if there are any chance, during the upgrade process, the system locks up or fail. Is the upgrade plug 'n play (just upload the required package) ...

What I am trying to say, after upgrade from the latest stable to 2.9 rc7 all settings from the old version work ok ...
