Re: v6.10 released

[Ticket#2014022566000158] new pppoe BUG introduced with the new pppoe package. The NASPORT value reported in radius by MT is completely wrong. In regular package it is the snmp index of the pppoe-client interface Now it is completely not useful. We need it to be reported correctly. regards Ros This...

The response I got to my ticket was 1000 Sessions.
Just 1000? So it doesn't worth for this.. A Dell R210 can handle a bit more than that (PPPoE+dynamic queue+1 MSS rule) even on version 5.25.

it's been tested, you can believe me or not, but it's a fact
You tested it as a PPPoE server with 10.000 clients?

What was the clients bandwidth? How much traffic thru router?

Re: 5000 PPPoE simultanous connections on MikroTik PPPoE server

cpu usage doesn't mean anything. RouterBOARD 1000 can easily run 10000s of clients provided you use a simple firewall and PCQ for the clients. It's all about optimization As a simple firewall I believe but as PPPoE server I doubt. Every time a machine or Routerboard reaches more than 80% it increas...

Re: 5000 PPPoE simultanous connections on MikroTik PPPoE server

Too much users for a non professional PPPoE concentrator. Maybe one day MKT kernel will handle it, but only when optimized for multi-core machines. Split it on 5 MK servers (x86 machines with dual core processors). Probably RB-1000 has enough power to route or NAT traffic for 5000 clientes, but not ...

Re: PPPOE and random queue missing problem

Hi, I don't belive that is really a bug. Linux is not suitable for terminating hundreds of PPP-Users. Regardless if it's L2TP or PPPoE. Maybe they have some small problems, so you run a little bit earlier in that problem. But over all, if you need to terminate 500+ Users, I prefer non Linux based s...

Re: PPPOE and random queue missing problem

No news? MK support say it´s a bug but no more information if it will be fixed or when.

Continue using MK to control my users bandwidth is becoming useless, so I need to look for a professional solution. Anybody here hows a good and professional PPPoE Server ?

Hi, I already made some tests on it disabling automatic MSS and use only two static rules. No performance change (maybe I don´t have too much users for that). Re: PPPoE server performance and packet lose problems

We have some packetloss with version 3.7 and Intel Gigabit NIC. I don´t know if with Broadcom is worst but we have this problem with Intel (PCI or PCI-E).
Is it a multi-cpu box or an old fashion single core?

Regards

It´s a P4 3.4Ghz dual-core with intel server mobo.

Should be a simple PCQ queue
But how change the queue type will help on it?

I think the problem is that both PPPoE shape queue and P2P queue has no parent.

I cannot accept a new version that works worst than an old version. And loose packets in LAN enviroment make this solution useless.

Re: PPPoE server performance and packet lose problems

Here are my results with version 3.7.

150 pppoe users, 8Mbits - 1000 packets - lost average 3 packets (it less than 1% but packet loss is still there).

I´m not happy with this result, old Mk versions never loose a single packet with much more users and traffic.

We do not have any problems with 3.7 build time Mar/27/2008.

We have only little performance problems that are common for older versions 2.9.x
