Re: Broken SXT cards?

For Oldman,

Yes, I was experimenting with all the different power levels.

For samsung172,

I suspect that its just the transmit part of the card thats broken, hence I can detect other WiFi on the campus, but not the other end of the link on which I was experimenting.

Broken SXT cards?

Hi Folks, Pls see my post at http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=68843. It definitely looks like these two units are broken, not a sniff of RF out of them. Can anyone help me with understanding how this happened. Normis says that 'by encreasing' the power the cards may be damaged, but ...

Hi, I have been experimenting with a short PtP 1.5Km link using two of these devices. Initially I used this post http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Bridging_Networks_with_SXT to set them up. Re: Linking two non line of sight locations with SEXTANT

Actually, with two devices a simple Cat5 cable (between the two POE injectors) is all you need.
Oh yes, you're right, of course. My thinking was that the two power injectors will require protecting from the weather in some form of "box"

Alternative Solution ??

Hi I am one of the others who have been struggling with load balancing for months, but without success. I did get the policy routing working on ver 2.8, but on 2.9 it was difficult, and I am not sure if it was working really well. (We had 2 ADSL Lines). At the MUM in Prague someone suggested "E...

Sharing Bandwidth equally between Hotspot clients

Hi, I have an Internet connection to my MT box, with about 30 clients on 3 separate client networks (separate ethernet cards). They connect via Hotspot/Masquarade. I want to share all the available bandwidth of the internet connection equally between all of the clients (regardless of which ethernet ...

Hi Bruno, Thanks for that. So far on this new build most of my FW rules have been placed by SetUp (for HotSpot). Its these that have lost their comments. I found that I could add a comment from the terminal interface, but not in WinBox. But that when I did a reboot, the comment was lost. Rules inser...

Comments Field Missing on Upgrade to V 2.9.14

Hi I might be missing something here, but it seems that having upgraded from ver 2.9.10 to ver 2.9.14 I seem to have lost all the comments in my Firewall rules, and also the ability to add comments. I find comments in the Firewall rules ESSENTIAL ;-) to keep track of whats happening. Have I missed s...

Sergejs,

Thank you. I think that has solved the problem. I think the key was setting 'transparent-proxy=no' for HotSpot user profile.

Hotspot, Mangle, and Policy Routing

Hi All, For some time I have been attempting to get Policy Routing to work with my ver 2.9 Hotspot system. We have two ADSL connections, and want to route all port 80/http traffic down one adsl, and the rest down the other. We did this on ver 2.8, using Mangle and Mark Routing and it worked perfectl...

I would dearly love to see a demo of how to use hotspot with multiple adsl lines. I have been struggling for ages to get this working! I am already booked, and looking forward to the event. I dont think I am really qualified/experienced enough to be questioned on anything but very basic stuff. We ha...

Ronnie, When we were running ver 2.8 we had two WAN (ADSL) connections and separate ethernet cards. We have a small hotspot based comminity on the private site of the router. We didn't use load balancing, but we did use mangle firewall rules to route all the port 80 packets down one ADSL link, and u...

Equal Cost Multipath Routing and Policy Routing

I posted on 14 Aug a request for help in getting the routing things going, but with no real reply forthcoming. I did Policy routing going on ver 2.8, but no EQMR. It seems a pity that now anyone helping with beta testing can get no formal support (unless you pay USD 250 per month!!) I still have bee...

Hi Kipel, OK, so I have upgraded to rc10, but the symptoms are the same. The set up here is a small cat5 newtwork with about 25 hot spot users, with two adsl connections on separate ethernet interfaces. Here is what I have done. 1. I checked that using both gateways separately that when a client use...

Equal Cost Multipath Routing and Policy Routing

Hi All,

I would be interesting to hear from anyone who has got either of these going. I have had no success with either after very carefully following the guidance in the documentation.

Is it broken in the beta?? (I am using rc5 at present)

Hotspot users on ver rc_5 - Use of Zone Alarm etc on clients

Hi I have successfully been using ver rc_5 on our ethernet based hotspot system. It seems pretty stable. We have found one major difference from ver 2.8, however, and this is that clients (typically running Win XP) have to disable their Zone ALarm firewalls to be able to use the system. They were ab...

Use of 2.9 rc5 Hotspot clients on Google and ask.co.uk

Hi, Some of our (ethernet) based clients are complaining that when they click on a link after either a goof#dle or ask.co.uk search that the resultant page does not load. The URLs produced by these search engines is like: http://web.ask.co.uk/redir?u=http%3a%2f%2ftm.ask.co.uk%2fr%3ft%3dan%26s%3dau%2...
