Another good find, an offset antenna with an "all purpose plastic connector box" used instead of a head.
Bandwidth reaches a lightning fast 1 Mbit/sec when the weather is fine.

It is nice to sell a rack enclosure, just to stuff equipment into it like garbage.

Electrolytic Capacitors in general are just crap :)

high temperatures will kill them fast as well..

many manufacturers of parts have problems with caps.... very common.

Would just like to throw in my 2 cents here, we would swap out all of our cisco switches if there was a 24 port mikrotik solution in a heart beat. So please do :-)

We have been changing capacitors on our failed RB450s for years, usually to 1000uF ones. The units work perfectly after the operation. Search on the forum, and you can find several topics about this.

I gave up, and stopped using MetaRouter for anything. It is interesting though, that some people in this forum still recommend running stuff in MetaRouter for production use.

The only "N" issie I have seen is that with 5db ant and card turned up, the client cant be too close to the AP and the client seems to get swamped.... the client can see the AP but can't connect... I usualy maintain a 2 foot rule... any closer and it gets wierd.... I get very good range, ...

Set strong password, disable unneeded services, create good firewall rules.
Use good VPN solution. IPSec and OpenVPN should be okay depending on the settings. Perhaps SSTP in RouterOS 5 will be better.

If he has more customers than public IPs, it is understandable. Because there are a limited amount of ports to use for srcnat, if there are lots of customers with many simultaneous connections, you must NAT them to more than one public IP.

I had this issue from several computers, and with several routers. IMHO it is a problem with winbox. I cannot reproduce it on purpose though, seems to be completely random, but every now and then when copying lots of firewall/nat/mangle rules, I bump into this.

Worked for me also, with winbox downgrade button. Maybe your 4.x package is broken. Check log after reboot.
works _only_ when try downgrade to 4.6 or below. problem was when i tried downgrade to 4.7
I downgraded to 4.7 and it worked :)

I also experienced this symptom, when being connected by IP, not MAC, with the newest Winbox. It happens mostly when copying firewall rules. Even the closing of the copied firewall rule doesn't work, the X in the corner is not clickable. Changing to another running app and back to winbox makes the X...

We are using RB411AH with R52N in an office environment. It is very unstable. I have written several times to these forums about this, and have been experimenting since buying this bundle with no success.

Sorry for the question, but do you run ROS4 on the board? (3.x does not have support for 11n cards.)
OTOH, please share your experience regarding the R52n card. We had to throw them all out, because the performance was unacceptable.

The current ones are 560uF and 6.3v, so would these be OK?
Maybe someone with more knowledge on electronics will jump in, but I think the values are the same, so it should be safe.

Mine has been running with the replaced caps for 95 days now :)

The capacitors have been changed. The local electronics shop could not give me capacitors with the same capacitance, so I bought 1000uF ones. They are also slightly bigger, but just fit into the indoor case.

The board now boots okay, I can log in, so I suppose it works perfectly. :D

I have 450 routerboard, about 1 year old, and it appears to have died! The symptoms are that when first powered up the blue LED comes on for about half a second, and then goes out. I had the same problem. E-mailed support and they upgraded to a test version of 3.24, that is unreleased. It works OK now.
MetaROUTER doesn't seem to work on RB450G with 3.23.
