I think I found a problem...it seems that there is a problem with mikrotik implementation of Avahi (Bonjour) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avahi_(software)

Nope, still the same problem...
I will try to create new hotspot from the start...
it seems that mikrotik redirects dns querys to 64872...
and maybe ubuntu has problem resolving from that port...

But I have switch like that. Other devices on that switch are doing fine. They join and leave multicast group as expected.

I managed to get this working, I setup traffic flow and nTop with netflow, so I got nice graphs with distribution of protocols...
but what if I want to know what IP address connected to ip adress x.x.x.x last night at 3:15? can I do that?

I know you can send magic packet only broadcast space, not over routed network. So I want to be able to somehow initialize magic packet (maybe firewall rule) over routed network so I dont have to logon to mikrotik and initialize /tool wol mac=xxxxxxx
Maybe port triggering would do it...

I have big speed drops when using nstream and setting manualy data rates.
I didnt touch basic rates (they were on 1/6) but just disabled 54 and 48 on supported data rates, and speed dropped from 12 mbits to 6 mbits...

I tried drawing signal strength with charts, under data source I set snmp oid, and set right oid. When I hit test, I get lets say -64, so that part is working ok...
But I cannot get graph. I tried setting scale to -1.000 but it did not help...

I noticed one problem with router that incoming and outgoing interface is not the same (sometimes ospfd select different ways to get to one router) than ping is ok, but mikrotik service is down, and snmp data is not collected at all...so it would be great if you could tak a look at that

this is just not working properly... I give up on new drivers for 5213 and going back to legacy drivers... It has some issues with motherboards, pci or timings, I cannot explain it... I tested on 3 motherboards, exchanged every slot but nothing... didnt test on routerboards because I dont use them.....

ok...done some more testing and I think I found the problem... when there is only one cards (5213 or 5212) it appears that it is working properly (will do some additional tests) so when both cards, 5212 and 5213 in one computer (despite if they are enabled or disabled) only 5212 is working correctly...

So I tried putting - in front but that didnt change a thing...

mp3turbo2 did you try this new N-Streme testing revision 12 in real life enviroment with superg? I tried v 11 and it didnt work (wery well)

just tested it under real conditions...link about 2 km... and a bit dissapointed.. example: on one freq i got in receive about 20 mbs, and in transmit about 1.5 mbs... on another freq i got in receive about 1 mbs, and in transmit about 20 mbs I think problem is that ther is no type of turbo...in my ...

just tested it...
works great :)
I mean g-tubo mode :)))
2x celeron333 with 64 mb ram+ 2x atheros dlink dwlg520
in ideal conditions (room close to another room)
got about 3.2 mb/s (25 mbit)
great job people..
nstreame still dont work though...
but this is enough for now :)

N-Streme testing 9

I tested little nstreame 9 today, and found that there is 2.4gh-b/g mode added, but still b clients didnt see that ap...(tested with some corega usb stick with atmel chipset)

also I would like to know when super g will be added and when will nstreame be working with 2.4g?

feature request: support for more wireless cards

It would be great if there were support for more wireless cards: there are currently very cheap wireless cards from realtek and ralink, and even open source drivers so I suppose it should not be hard to implement them...
