Re: Mikrotik bandwidth test software; using iperf?

Another vote for IPERF here too. IPERF is an accepted international standard and follows RFC2544. The point of what the two posters are saying above, and also for our own needs, is to run a test from one end of the carrier's circuit to the other. Using IPERF on a PC requires two people to run the te...

Re: VLAN Truck, bridging untagged packets

I have the same problem. The interface has a VLAN defined on it (thus it is a trunk port) and most packets are tagged. But it also sometimes receives untagged packets - this is unavoidable. Most switches have the ability to support a PVID (Port VLAN) which is the default VLAN that the untagged packe...

Re: MPLS/VPLS testing

We have been testing over the past week between Foundry (now Brocade) CES2000s, MLX and Mikrotik router.

LDP and VPLS services have tested out fine and working extremely well.

If Mikrotik are looking for some MPLS capable routers with VPLS for testing then I can suggest these products.

Disable-running-check on Ethernet interfaces - Major Flaw

In previous versions of RouterOS this value was setable on ethernet interfaces. It check to see if the interface is up or down, and is important for directly connected routes. The default for some STRANGE reason is set to yes, that is the checking of the interface link state is disabled. In verion 3...

Re: SNMP statistics collection excessive

I have found where the SNP data is collected. It is under charts-> data sources. Whereever an interface has been found through SNMP polling, it has been added as builtin. However clicking on tha data source which is builtin does not permit the polling frequency from being changed. I would like to be...

Limited number of Outage records in Dude 3.0rc2

When you click on a network element, you have the ability to view the Outages that exist for the services on that elements. I have found that the most number of events a single service for a single element will record is 16. E.g. Set Status to all Probe to Ping and the most Outages recorded is 16. T...

Feature Request - LAC/LNS functionality

Years ago, I made a request for realm based (or domain based) authentication for PPPoE -> L2TP (LAC support). It would be nice for mikrotik to be able to add this feature into ROS v4. LAC functionality is relatively simple to implement. ROS v3 already supports PPPoe and L2TP, you just need to develo...

SNMP statistics collection excessive

I have come across a problem after recently installing the Dude 3.0rc2. After enabling SNMP on an element, the Dude consumed 2.1GBytes of traffic in a single month polling just two devices. Now this element does have quite a few interfaces, but the "Polling" of the element was set to once ...
