Just upgraded to v4.8 and again the NTP clients are stating "server-ip-mismatch" if I try to use my loopback ip address as the NTP server address.

Well that does explain it.

Are there any plans to add additional status or debug information to the NTP client to be a little closer to the SNTP client?

Why not continue running ospf? (I think you meant to say that you are running a PPPoE client at each client correct?) I take it that you will be running a routing protocol on each AP?
