Re: Problems Accessing computer behind other routers

If you can ping and tracert both ways then routing might not be the caused.

What is the ip address that dns server recieves for the dns request?

How is your network setup?
router1(vlan)(172.17.0.8) - - - - - router2(vlan)(172.17.0.3)(dhcp[172.17.8.1/24])
And what dns/gateway does computer use?

Re: Problems Accessing computer behind other routers

Check the routing table on the 172.17.0.8 router.

I recommend switching over to ospf.
What is nice about ospf is that it automatically creates/removes routes when your network change.

Re: Problems Accessing computer behind other routers

Are you able to ping your computer from the ip you try to browse?
you say that your laptop has lan ip 172.17.8.1/24?
And your backbone has ip range 172.17.0.0/24?

Why does the computer have different ip range if you are using vlans to create one big network?

Re: Packet mark routing

If you remote router see your pings.

On remote router.

add this.

/ip route add dst-address=(your pc address or range) gateway=(the address of the rb532)

for example = /ip route add dst-address=192.168.0.2 gateway=10.0.0.1

This rule will tell the remote router where to send the reply back.

You should test cable with cable tester.
One of the wires might be broken.
OR you can replace the cable with new one instead.
Should fix the issue

Try adding pptp logging. Then you might see what happens on both mikrotiks when the disconnection happens.

Why do you have firewall between routers?

how is the setup? internet---mikrotik---firewall---mikrotik?

Re: Port forwarding is not working

What i would have done is to add internal webserver to your dns server. So when when users request that webste then it will automatically use port 80.

For example if you are using router1 as your dns server.
/ip dns static add address=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx name=www.google.com

There is a client on my wan that wants to do p2p. I am able to limit him to 64kb/s with qeue's but want to make his p2p even slower like 16kb/s or 8kb/s

Is there a way to make p2p so slow that it barely cant work. Im thinking about QoS but will that work? Then i can set p2p to low priority.

Re: My r52h cant be set higher thanv20dbm

Hmm but 25 is the default. Why would they set 25dbi at the default when it will damage the card? The higest i ever got with my r5h card is 36.

Is 20dbi = 100mw?

Re: My r52h cant be set higher thanv20dbm

I have two r52h cards on my rb433. The one did show that the default is 25 and the other one showed 20.

I was able to change the default settings back to normal after i have the card rates to 25 and then back to default.

Re: My r52h cant be set higher thanv20dbm

I was able to change it to 25dbm. What i did was i choose card rates and made it 25, then clicked on apply. The dbm stayed 25 when i changed it to dafault.

So now it works on 25 dbm. great.

My r52h cant be set higher thanv20dbm

I have two r52h cards but when i set the TX-power then i can only set one of them to 25dbm. But one of then cant be set to 25dbm. When i choose default then it only shows 20dbm. Why is that so? Im sure that i have installed a r52h card.
