Re: Significant improvement for wireless Nv2 PtMP

What is the recommendation in noisy environments? Running nv2 with adaptive-noise-immunity switched on on client and AP? Does ist affect nv2 operation at all? I always use it. To be honest be surprised by the question. Why NOT use them? With adaptive-noise-immunity turned on throughput and latency ...

Re: Significant improvement for wireless Nv2 PtMP

Upgraded two nv2 sectors to current release candidate, 20 subscribers each. Now clients with good RSSI/CCQ get reasonable speed, while clients with low RSSI/CCQ are stil performing bad. Also the average throughput on the sectors almost doubled during peak times (from 8-10 to 16-20 Mbps). Running thi...

NV2 - Prioritize PPPoE traffic in VLAN over P2P link

Hi! We are currently updating all our P2P and P2MP MikroTiks to the current v6.4 firmware and thereby configuring NV2 wireless prioritization for ICMP and SIP traffic. As this works great on our MikroTik APs where the PPPoE traffic is not encapsulated in a VLAN, we don't get it working on P2P links ...

Re: Bandwidth limitation on CPE

scotthammersley, n21roadie: Thanks a lot for your suggestions! At the moment I don't bother about prioritization of different types of traffic, e.g. best-effort, voip, p2p etc. Now, in the first step, I just want to limit the maximum allowed bandwidth. Prioritization will be the next step after band...

Re: Bandwidth limitation on CPE

Other vendors, e.g. Ubiquity and Alvarion are offering the opportunity to limit the upstream/downstream bandwidth directly at the CPE (wireless client). Why use one heavy device with a strong CPU if you can distribiute the work to many small CPUs? Another benefit of limitng the bandwidth directly at...

SXT w/ bridge and simple queue stops passing traffic

Hi, our MikroTik SXTs stop passing PPPoE traffic/passes traffic really slow (e.g. with 50 kbps) with configured bridge and simple queue on ether1 interface after some random time. Only PPPoE traffic is allowed to pass the bridge. Problem exists on RouterOS v6.7 and earlier. After setting use-ip-fire...

Re: Bandwidth limitation on CPE

from my view point ...the best way ,is by user proflie ( hot spot & pppoe )... Where will the bandwidth limitation then be applied? At the AP or the client? We are already using is a FreeRADIUS server using Mikrotik-Rate-Limit reply attribute. But then the queue for bandwidth limitation will sh...

Bandwidth limitation on CPE

Hi guys! What's the correct way to achieve bandwidth limitation and priorization of VoIP traffic on the CPE side (SXT 5HPnD)? We want to do the bandwidth limitation on the customer CPEs to data rates with 1024k/512k, 2048k/768k, 3072k/1024k (downlink/uplink). What we also want to achieve is to prior...

Re: VRRP with only virtual IP

Hi libove, I tested such a setup in a live network last night using RouterOS 5.22 and two RB1100AHx2 boards. I only tested IPv4 and VRRP version 3. Both routers got IP addresses from another subnet as the virtual IP address. All of them were public IP addresses. Having only one virtual IP address at...

@Basdno: Interesting info about the CPU usage... I will check this on my board and compare with the CPU usage values in the past. But at first I have to update my Nagios configuration as the SNMP OIDs have changed after the update. :-(

Re: Upgrading RB1100AH from 4.17 to 5.14 recommended?

Thank you for this hint! This is exactly the information I was looking for. We do not run MPLS on this board... but OSPF, some IPIP tunnels, PPPoE-Servers and a lot of traffic management. I did an update last night, without any problems. The board is now up for almost eight hours and all services se...

Hi, @mrz: Do you mean, adding the interface to an vrf instance the default route from dhcp-client should be added with the corresponding routing-mark? Well, I just tested it, and the default route will not get into the routing table with the routing-mark set. So indeed, using VRF a new option for th...

Hi, is there a way to prioritize PPPoE-encapsulated SIP and RTP packets? We have an RB1000 as AC (PPPoE server), from this point there are several wireless PtP links and APs. As we're encrypting the wireless link the PPPoE server is setup to not use any encryption, so it would be possible to access ...
