Re: Help on bonding 3 wireles PtP links.

I'm trying to do something similar and wondering if you ever got this configured?

Re: Configure RB493 as "smart switch" with redundant paths?

I still haven't implemented this as other things have come up.....but here is what I'm trying to configure..... Building A will have an RB1100. Building B, C and D will have an RB493. The wireless links are made with UBNT NanoBridges and configured to be transparent (assigned private IP for manageme...

Re: Configure RB493 as "smart switch" with redundant paths?

I'm wondering if it might be better to configure these as bridge interfaces since that makes them "invisible"? I guess if I go with bridging instead of bonding, I lose the potential speed increase of the link? Perhaps I can bond the interfaces and then bridge the bonded interface? I'm trying to keep...

Re: Configure RB493 as "smart switch" with redundant paths?

RB493 (A) ether1 -> AP (A) (bridged) -> Client (A) (bridged) -> RB493 (B) ether1
RB493 (A) ether2 -> AP (B) (bridged) -> Client (B) (bridged) -> RB493 (B) ether2
This is the configuration that I'm using...

Re: Configure RB493 as "smart switch" with redundant paths?

I'm running the wireless as transparent bridges, so they are "invisible". Each pair of bridges has been configured to connect only to it's partner. So there shouldn't be any interference (as long as I mount them far enough away from each other). The way I've got this configured, it should be the sam...

Configure RB493 as "smart switch" with redundant paths?

I'm trying to configure my RB493 as more of a smart switch than router. I've got Eth2 and Eth3 connected to two transparent (WDS) wireless bridges that are connected to the same network. I want to bond these two interfaces with balance-rr so I'll get a redundant (and faster) link to my network. Is i...

Re: rb493 vs. rb1000/rb1100 for bandwidth management

I'll only need 8 physical ports. Four of the firewall connections will be via redundant wireless bridges.

Re: rb493 vs. rb1000/rb1100 for bandwidth management

As far as bandwidth, I'll be using this to manage a 5 Mb WAN connection (possibly upgraded to 10 Mb). I'm not sure how complex the configuration will be. The connection will be split between 9 separate connections, each with their own firewall. Is there any sort of way to gauge whether the configura...

rb493 vs. rb1000/rb1100 for bandwidth management

Am I correct in thinking that I can use a rb493 for bandwidth control similar to an rb1000/rb1100? Or is the bandwidth control dependent on having RouterOS lvl 6?

Re: rb750 and rb493 for load-balancing/failover of wireless link

Using the RB493 in the main office I should be able to manage bandwidth using VLANs, right? That way I can give priority to corporate VLANs over guest VLANs?

Re: rb750 and rb493 for load-balancing/failover of wireless link

So you're suggesting using the RB433 as the wireless bridge? I was actually thinking about using some Ubiquiti hardware for the wireless links and Mikrotik hardware for the fail over/routing portion. I'm new to link fail over/load balancing and there seem to be quite a few options. I know I definite...

Re: rb750 and rb493 for load-balancing/failover of wireless link

I want an rb750 at each site and an rb493 at the central office so I can have a sort of hub/spoke config with the central office being the main site (and the internet connection). It's slightly more complex due to one of the satellite offices not having line of sight to the main office. I'd like to ...

rb750 and rb493 for load-balancing/failover of wireless link

I'm fairly certain this should work, but I'd like some confirmation before purchasing. I'd like to use an rb750 at a satellite office to provide load-balance/failover for two wireless links back to the main office. I'd also like to use VLANs so I can hang two firewalls off the router, one for the co...

Not getting down email notifications with Dude 3.0

I don't seem to be getting notifications when things go down, only when they come up. This has been a problem for previous versions I've used (3.0 beta 8). Anyone have any ideas?
