Re: Cant mac-telnet from AP to any CPE that is a RB711

After sending this problem to Mikrotik support it is now all sorted. The RB711 is shipped with default settings for the mac-telnet server interface set to ether1. That is why we could not access the RB711 from the AP. The RB411 is shipped with default settings for the mac-telnet server interface set...

Cant mac-telnet from AP to any CPE that is a RB711

Just wondering if anybody can help before I contact support. We have an AP that is a RB433AH running V5.14 with 25 users off it. The AP is set for NV2 and 802.11n. The CPEs are a mixture of RB411 and RB711 all running V5.11. I can mac-telnet from the AP to any RB411 but can not to any RB711. The mac...

Migrating 2GHZ AP to Nv2

I thought I might pass on what we found after migrating one of our APs using 2ghz-B to Nv2. The CPEs (clients) consist of RB411 and RB711s and wireless cards AR5413 and higher; including N series. We followed the wiki Manual:Nv2. However only the clients with N series wireless cards automatically mi...

Queue Tree Bytes OID has changed since OS3.2*

I thought I might let people know that I discovered a change to the OID for Queue Tree Bytyes.
From what I can see this has been in place since OS3.2 and above.

OID for pre 3.2 = ".1.3.6.1.4.1.14988.1.1.2.2.1.5."
OID for post 3.2 = ".1.3.6.1.4.1.14988.1.1.2.2.1.7."

Hope this helps anyone else.

IP Security not working with OS v3.24

I have updated two RBs, that are setup with a VPN between them, with v3.24. The VPN worked fine with v2.9x but now it doesn't. As part of my fault diagnostic I have observed the following log on one of the RB when I ping the other RB. echo: ipsec initiate new phase 2 negotiation: 218.185.225.70[500]...

Setup HotSpot using wired connections only

The ISP I work for wishes to setup a HotSpot that uses Ethernet connections only. We have many wireless HotSpots going OK but this one site cant run wireless because of the concrete building environment. All the examples and spec sheets seem to cover setting up a wireless HotSpot only. Therefore doe...

How to gather traffic flow data for each seperate IP address

I work for an ISP and I have setup a router 450 which has a subnet 218.185.224.112/28 assigned to it. Each IP address, in this subnet, is then assigned to an individual customer. What I would like to do is gather traffic data for each separate IP address (customer) in this subnet which will then be ...

Re: Obtain wireless card MAC address OK on 2.9 but fails on 3.1

Yes I have tried the new login and it works fine. I have finally solved the problem. Thanks for you help too. I have still kept the perl functions grep and awk. With the v3.x I used the detail command and then extracted the mac-address by striping off the "mac-address" header. See below. print "OBTA...

Re: Obtain wireless card MAC address OK on 2.9 but fails on 3.1

What might help is if I show you the full script before the said line concerned. The script uses a FTP session to login first. #!/usr/bin/perl use DBI; use Mysql; use Net::FTP; `arp -d 192.168.0.1`; $host1 = "192.168.0.1"; $username1 = "admin"; $password1 = ""; $filename1 = "all.rsc"; $directory1 = ...

Re: Obtain wireless card MAC address OK on 2.9 but fails on 3.1

Thanks SurferTim for your prompt advice. Much appreciated. I have amended the line of code to the following; matching your suggestion: $MAC = `ssh admin\@192.168.0.1 \'/interface wireless get wlan mac-address\'` However the $MAC variable still returns empty. I must point out that the script I am usi...

Obtain wireless card MAC address OK on 2.9 but fails on 3.1

I have inherited a Perl script from a previous employee that fails on version v3.x but works OK with v2.9.x. There is one line of code that fails; which is below: # Mac Getter $MAC = `ssh admin\@192.168.0.1 \'/interface wireless print value-list\' | grep mac | awk \'{print \$2}\'`; I am new to Perl ...
