Routing Rule Help

Hello, on a multi-wan router like an RB750G can a rule be constructed that says...

if traffic comes in on a particular interface then it should also return via that interface, regardless of what the default route is?

RB433AH and Dude Daemon

Hi, I want to install the dude daemon on a RB433AH router for monitoring. It's only other job is to route traffic between to ether interfaces. Can I expect any resource or freezing issues?

Re: 750G with Dude package.

Thanks - worth a look. Though if it was the file storage filling up, would a reboot clear it? If it's memory maxing out I would have though it would be the service not handing resource back to the system.

750G with Dude package.

Hello, one of our clients has an RB750G acting as a switch with the Dude package running on it. Periodically the 750G was freezing and needed a power cycle to resume operation. The Dude was disabled and the 750G has not frozen since. So, should the Dude package be installed on it at all and if so wh...

Hardware or software fault?

Hello, we have a Mikrotik RB433AH/R5H AP at a high site and all the clients have disconnected from it. Via winbox all looks well and it is possible to carry out a site survey successfully. However, back in AP mode with the original settings and nothing connects. Do you think we are looking at a faul...

User Manager and Displayed Fields.

Hello, we are using a combined Hotspot and User Manager solution on our network and it works very well. However, as we use the client MAC address as the "Username" for unlimited access clients this makes it hard to see at a glance session information etc. Is there a way to display the "Surname" fiel...

Hi, I've had a look around for TCP bursting but cannot find out much information about it. If you have any further details it would be great if you could share.

Re: HotSpot Concentrator

Just to add to the above... I've now set up Hotpsot on the same RB1000 so that clients with a PPPoE profile can auth via User Manager and any client who wishes to prepay can be routed to the Hotspot (which will also be linked to User Manager) and buy credit via Paypal. Further SIP testing was succes...

Re: HotSpot Concentrator

Hi, I've set up a test system following the same topology using PPPoE and User Manager on a RB1000 at the backend which in turn connects to the Internet. The AP (RB433AH) between the client (RB433AH) and the AC is just set up with a bridge between the outside and inside facing interfaces. It looks l...

Prepaid and postpaid wifi CPEs with central user manager.

Hello, we are looking for the best way to set up a new wireless network that has certain requirements and any configuration advice would be appreciated. There will be several RB433AH powered AP high sites installed and connected to these will be a mixture of MT and UBNT CPE clients. Some clients wil...

PPPoE Server and User Manager

We would like to configure our network to allow for 2 types of client... Client 1 is a permanent (post paid) user type who pays on a monthly basis for their connection. Client 2 is a casual (pre paid) user type who will pay for the connection when they need it. Each CPE will connect to an RB450AH po...

Managing P2P in a Wireless Environment

Having read many of the posts relating to P2P and ways of effective management it seems that session limiting at the client is the best way. Almost all P2P employs encryption so as to go undetected making packet sniffing and rules a waste of resources, especially at the AP or somewhere central where...

Any advice on the following would be appreciated... 100Mbps Backhaul > RB1000 > 6 x 60 Degree 5GHz APs (RB433AH/R5H) Each AP will have approx. 50 wireless MT/UBNT clients. PPPoE will be used for client authentication and WMM will be active. Should the RB1000 be used as a central PPPoE server for all...

Re: When Mikrotik support 11n mimo (SR71-5)

It's a tough one for MT. Guided by their fundamental dogma of carrier class perfection and encapsulation of all available standards means in this case serious delays of the 802.11n release. It reminds me of the failure of Wimax to take over the mobile IP world due to lack of standards agreement and ...

Me too. We are also very interested in deploying some of these links but would like to hear a success story first.

Re: setup more than 500 Links

Another aspect will be the Internet pipe - can you actually get 50 Mbps? If you could, you would still have to spread it out on multiple AP. The Strix Nitro we use can do 100 Mbps full duplex - but I consider that most usable for PtP (or maybe for 3-4 multi-point setup). Hello Tbird, we are just ab...

RB1000 vs. PC Board

Hello, the RB1000 router looks great but what about a PC mainboard and a VT6106HG card? Would this not make an equally powerful and more expandable router as long as a quality mainboard was used? Or does the maximum throughput of the PCI bus limit traffic potential? How about a single port card in e...

Re: Routing Question.

Hello, thanks for the reply. That's where I was looking but was hoping to see a "gateway" field there as well as "source" and "destination". So in the example you could enter "src. address = 172.16.11.234", "dst.address = 0.0.0.0/0" and "gateway = 192.168.5.1". Maybe it is necessary to create a rout...

Routing Question.

Hello, our network has 2 gateways 192.168.11.1 and 192.168.5.1. The client connections use PPPoE to connect to the network. An example IP of a client is 172.16.11.234. We want to route all traffic from 172.16.11.234 out via 192.168.5.1 in instead of 192.168.11.1 (the default gateway). How can this b...
