Queue failure every few days and related issues

Hello! :) Queue functionality is critical to our company, so we monitor it every 10s using a script, which sends an e-mail when there seems to be a problem. We use RouterOS v6 (currently 6.23) simple queues on all our LIGs, which are PPPoE interfaces for ADSL and VDSL lines on one RB750, one RB750GL...

Re: v6.12 released

SSTP problems still persist: We have SSTP server-client interconnections between 6 MT routers, all of which share *exactly* the same settings. After upgrading them to v6.12, some pairs would connect without problems, others however would disconnect after roughly one minute, mostly returning a "...

Re: RouterOS Development (poll): Bug Elimination vs New Feat

IMHO I don't think that this is the right direction in the long long term. Focusing on fixing bugs is something that is mandatory and unquestionable. MT are already trying this. Additionally, they will never lose an edge by de-prioritizing the development of new features. So it is not a matter of s...

RouterOS Development (poll): Bug Elimination vs New Features

Hi! I have no idea whether this issue has been raised before, a quick search I performed revealed nothing. From my own experience, new RouterOS versions seem to bring too many (great) features at the expense of new bugs and the non-elimination of old bugs. Everyone likes new features, but the anxiet...

Re: v6 and [find !routing-mark] [find !comment] etc.

Similarly for !status
:put [:len [/ip dhcp-server lease find !status]]

( :put [:len [/ip dhcp-server lease find status=""]]
does not return any results either )

This seems to be a generic issue with the not operator when used in a [set/get find] and [print where] context. Am I right?

v6 and [find !routing-mark] [find !comment] etc.

Hi everyone! These no longer work in v6.2 and v6.3: :put [:len [/ip route find !routing-mark]] :put [:len [/interface find !comment]] The alternative syntax suggested in http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=75894, with parentheses around !routing-mark and !comment, always returns nothin...

E-mail if any route's gateway is unreachable for over 10min.

Hi all! I don't know if anyone else has gone down this path before, but I use distance=2 static routes (mostly in combination with EoIP tunnels) and wanted to be notified every time the distance=1 route was unreachable. Hence the script below, which sends an e-mail to up to 4 recepients if a gateway...

Dynamic IP address update script for multiple VPN clients

Hi all! The following script adaptation checks the connect-to address of up to 5 PPTP clients in one go. It compares each IP to the corresponding IP address returned by the DNS server and, when the two do not match, it updates the VPN client and the log. The log is also informed upon failure to reso...

DynDNS update script for multiple internet lines

Hi all! I drew on a number of scripts to develop a version that is simple and suitable for multiple internet lines (up to 3 here). Basically, what it does is that it compares the local IP address of each PPPoE interface to the corresponding IP address returned by the DNS server and, when the two do ...

Re: Very 'bad' parents in simple queues

I have been able to eliminate the problem by setting all leaf priorities lower than 8 and all parent priorities to 8. However, the question remains: Aren't parents supposed to always be assigned a lower effective priority than their children? Unless I am mis-reading the manual, this may well be a na...

Re: Very 'bad' parents in simple queues

When I make parent in queue, usually I put empty parameter on parent. Just put the limit. Parent - child - connection 1 - child - connection 2 - child - connection 3 - child - connection 4 Thank you for your reply. The problem is that I always use WinBox to change the settings, so maybe this is act...

Very 'bad' parents in simple queues

Hi everyone I have setup a number of simple queues as leaves, based on mangle marks. Half of the leaves are children of Critical and the other half of Global , the latter also being the parent of Critical . Global is therefore the only queue without a parent. The leaves work as expected when their p...
