Re: Problem with V6 and X86 in VMWARE

Thanks for the info!
If your use case requires a large amount of RAM, the x86 won't be able to handle it. Max RAM for the x86 ROS is only 2 GB. The CHR is 64-bit, and can address as much RAM as you could possibly need.

RoS x86 defaulting

I have had a very strange occurrence with an x86 router. I had it running 6.27 with the kvm package and a guest OS running in the KVM package as well. I downgraded to 6.27 because any versions greater than that were locking up the router requiring a hard reboot. The original configuration was a hots...

I found the issue. Unfortunately, there was a password defaulted on these routers. SSH scanners associated with this ugly botnet probably found them and changed DNS for their own nefarious purposes. Scary stuff. Passwords have been changed :)

Thanks for the tips everyone!

Scripting IDs are different from command line IDs. Best way I have found is to do:
/queue simple move [find name="Limit p2p"] [:pick [find] 0]
The ":pick [find] 0" does a find command on all the queue rules and "picks" rule 0, which is the internal RotuerOS ID of the top rule in the queue list.

Re: RB450G + openwrt Metarouter strange problem

Ditto. Things I've tried that don't fix the problem: Underclocking doesn't help. Cannot be forced to produce.. (doing a bunch of stressful tasks in the openwrt does not reboot it.) never writing to the disk subsystem has no effect. Openwrt never shows any kernel errors. I'm kinda concerned about th...

Re: RB450G + openwrt Metarouter strange problem

what else you have configured on your board? i am running RB450G with normis posted OpenWRT image and its uptime is several hours already and nothing has hanged. i am using that router as gateway. OpenWRT image runs fine until you start doing things with it. For example, we run top command from Ope...

Re: RB450G + openwrt Metarouter strange problem

Tried the pre-built image posted by Normis. Made sure I used scp to ensure binary transfer. Same issue. We were testing some VLAN settings on the same board and it ended up in a perpetual boot state. We attempted to reload firmware via netinstall, but no success. Stuck on the message "sending offer"...

Re: RB450G + openwrt Metarouter strange problem

CPU frequency is 680MHz. I'm not sure on the boot loader version. Is this only visible on the serial interface? I'm not local to the unit as I work off-site, but I can get someone to serial into the 450G to find this out if you think it is important. I've noticed that problems seems to happen when I...

Re: v3.27 bug: ssh port forwarding is not working

Ouch! This is the first I heard of this...explains why I couldn't dial in through my SSH tunnel to my desktop while I was away this weekend. You've got my vote to add it back in asap. This is a very valuable feature! I use it alot to tunnel to my home PC from remote and for work at our mikrotik-enab...

RB450G + openwrt Metarouter strange problem

I compiled my own version of openWRT for Metarouter according to the instructions found in the Metarouter wiki article. I used this metarouter image with no problems at all on a 433AH (mikrotik firmware 3.30). When I tried the same image on the 450G (both 3.30 and 4.0 firmware), I get the following ...

Re: API examples

I did previously find API SDK by Townet, Italy, but they only published object files and headers. I need source code in order to cross compile for openWrt in MetaRouter. BTW, I will post it when I get it finished.

Re: API examples

I'm working on an API client in C at the moment (for implementation in an openWRT metarouter). Has this been done yet? I don't want to re-invent the wheel, especially since my C is really rusty.

So many seg faults so little time :)

Re: dynDNS Update Script

I've made something similar and have been testing for a few weeks...just saw this post and thought I'd share. I haven't been locked out of dyndns yet, so this should be a good script as well. The main difference is that it queries checkip.dyndns.org for the current publicly facing IP address. I also...

ECMP Issues

I know ECMP has been discussed alot. However, I have a comment (something I figured out after research) and a follow-up question: Comment When reading the wiki documents on ECMP, they simply say to add two routes and you should be doing load balancing. I tried this, but found that I quickly lost rem...

Re: default gateway failover

You should also add a static route to the host that you're checking...ie
/ip route
add dst-address=3.3.3.3 gateway=1.1.1.1 comment="Always use this default gateway for netwatch IP"
I had to do this to prevent netwatch from thrashing about when the primary connection was down.
