Re: New Network map only says 'loading'

I observed that if you add a new map and while adding you do not change the default name that appears, the loading issue does not come.

Afterwards, you can rename the map.

It shows deauth message against the registration of my Blackberry smartphone. These are manufactured by RIM.

If not routeros then what else can do this? However, I do not want to NAT V6 to V4, what I want to use is a dual stack webproxy that would retreive the webpages using V4 and return them to V6 clients. My router is running BGP on v6 and got an AS and poolof V6 as well.

FIPtech, I must say you have very good command on hardware design. What is your background? I hope someday Mikrotik will release a hardware that would handle at least 1 gig ( assuming 40/100gig is not a possibility) very efficiently with connection tracking, filtering and queues all enabled. RouterBoards are using Level 2 logic circuits, giving basic level 2 switching at wire speed without packet loss (i can confirm this as i tested it with a professional Ethernet Tester at 1 Gbps full duplex).
Have you tested all routerboards or specific ones?

why using queue in the AP? you should either use another Mikrotik on a hardware with multi-core CPU connected to the AP for this or at best you can have a dedicated NAS hardware. Re: how to achive this routing case

pls understand that 'masqurade' is not the action that is appropriate for achieving this objective. Have a look at the 'netmap' example shown above in my previous post. Let me clarify. Masqurade is actually doing a Port address translation using the IP address of an interface. In the CLI, pls note t...

Re: USB device on Vmware ESX

Not on ESX, not using USB, but I have successfully tested the 4.0 beta on vmware w/s 6.5 (probably, the latest one). It runs damn fast with massive performance. I have also put a live 3000 user traffic on top of that. It rocks. I do not have ESX but had I had that i'd run all the mikrotiks on that. ...

Re: how to achive this routing case

1. Use Netmap instead of sourcenat on the PC. 2. Assign only one IP address to ether1 in the subnet 192.168.4.0/24. Remove six others in the same subnet. 3. Consider the following netmap example. If you want to link Public IP subnet 11.11.11.0/24 to local one 2.2.2.0/24, you should use destination a...

Re: how to achive this routing case

what happen is when the RB connect to the PC , the DAC ip on the routing table of the pc showing that only one ip of the ISP is active and all the traffic going to the internet will be through that ip . while i need each group of my user or port as above to use IP of the ISP ip's and the traffic wi...

Re: Web proxy and hotspot ?

This might be due to different issues however you might place the following rule at the top of the NAT rules. Open Winbox, go to /ip/filter/NAT select the rule and drag up to the first position using mouse. add action=redirect chain=dstnat comment="transparent proxy - hotspot net" \ disabled=no dst-...

Re: Two interface with same gateway

Do Source based Policy Routing using 'Mangle' and use the DSL-1 next hop IP to be the next hop for packets with source=10.1.0.0/24. Similarly DSL-2 for the packets coming from the other subnet

Re: DHCP Server MT for 1000 users ?

1. Divide the lot of users in multiple VLANs ......my be 100/VLAN 2. Get an L-3 Switch to configure inter VLAN routing. 3. Define DHCP Relay on the L3 to direct DHCP broadcasts to the DHCP server (your Mikrotik) This will definitely work without a hitch if a good NIC is installed in your mikrotik. I...

Re: Best setup for Squid Proxy

Option 1 is definitely better. Use two squid boxes with either of the two options configured for resilience: 1. Multicast Addresses on the link between mikrotik and squid. Do a Policy Routing on the mikrotik for http traffic, set the next hop as the multicast address of the squid pair. 2. Do a VRRP ...

Mikrotik 3.x on a rack mount server

Hi,

I need to do caching (DNS +web) for 3000 concurrent users of an ISP. For this I want to go for a rack mount server hardware (HP/Dell/IBM) with 2 X xeon q core , 2GB RAM , 500 GB HDD. Please suggest a model that is known to be compatible.

Thanks,

Sudipta :D
