Re: BGP based VPLS

Just configure BGP on R3 the same as R5 and peer the RR clients with *both* RRs. The 2 RRs must peer with each other as well, but *without* route-reflection.

cheers,

BGP route reflection

Hi, has anyone played much with RouterOS as a BGP route reflector? I'm using two x86 as route reflectors (full v4 tables and vpnv4) and I see some issues with ghost routes being propagated from the RRs, sometimes with truncated ASPATHs. What are your experiences? Oh, and I've tried v3.28+ and v4.2 a...

Re: RB1000 BGP having difficulty to advertise to Juniper

check what the Mikrotik peer is advertising. If the route isn't installed in the Juniper's routing table, it's most likely due to an "unuseable path juniper> show route <your prefix> hidden extensive (I think) oh, and I did do an RB1000 - Juniper peering justthe other day and this is live and r...

Re: BGP full table Large CPU usage on rb1000 3.22

Any (full table capable) Cisco/Juniper/Quagga/whatever router I've ever worked with. for example, a Juniper J4350 (Celeron 2.5 GHz based software router) will converge 2 full tables in about 20-30 seconds. CPU usage, of course, goes up but the router stays responsive and will process traffic while c...

Re: Feature request - BGP 32bit AS numbers

Yeah, ASPLAIN is now the only IETF supported notation. ASDOT was never formally adopted and is now deprecated.

Re: BGP full table Large CPU usage on rb1000 3.22

I've tested against this problem with an x86 (P4, 2.8GHz) with 1GB RAM and it appears in this case too. BGP convergence takes very long (at least3-4 minutes) and the CPU is at 100% the whole time.

Doesn't look like a RAM shortage as the free RAM is still at 780 MB or so.

Re: MPLS (LDP) and Juniper interoperability failure

Excellent! after disabling both graceful-restart and graceful-restart-helper on JunOS, [edit protocols ldp] graceful-restart { disable; helper-disable; } the session is up and exchanging labels. I'll test with it enabled on 3.21 cheers, bofh

Re: MPLS (LDP) and Juniper interoperability failure

Right,

after enabling control-mode independent on the J2300 LDP still doesn't establish an adjacency. The neigbour comesup briefly (until hold time runs out) butno labels or routes exchanged.

next test with 3.21...

Re: MPLS (LDP) and Juniper interoperability failure

Well, well, well...

as it turns out, these configuration parameters exist in JUNOS. The commands are hidden and undocumented.

Every day is a school day... Back to the testing lab.

Re: IPv6 questions

Name server addresses in RAs isn't standardised yet, but there's a draft RFC for it:

MPLS (LDP) and Juniper interoperability failure

Hi, I've been testing MPLS interoperability between ROS 3.20 (routing-test/mpls-test) and a Juniper J2300 (JUNOS 8.4 and 9.4ES). Results so far: LDP adjacency is not being established. The Mikrotik neigbour shows in the Juniper, but no label information is being exchanged. On the MT, mpls ldp neigbo...
