This logs in a hotspot user: http:// ip.address/login?username=xx&password=xx Then, I can access the username in the on-login script with :log info $user That's good so far. No, Secure Routerboot does not protect the hardware at all. It only protects the configuration. Currently true, but we will implement a specific second interval for the reset, so that it will be impossible to reset, unless you know that it is triggered between the 85th and 90th second :) So, you ha...

Queue Tree - Limit-At vs. Max-Limit

If I have a Queue Tree with type PCQ, the limit-at inside the Queue Tree seems to have no affect. Max-Limit is the max that can go through the queue, that is easy to understand. Limit-at is defined as the guaranteed limit, but can go as high as the max-limit. If I put limit-at=100k and max-limit=200...

I've found that a route with a routing-mark always takes priority over other routes, regardless of distance. For example, if a connection (with routing mark x) matches both of the following routes, it will always take route #2 because of the mark even though it has a much larger distance. Route #1 0...

The router will route between the 3 networks automatically as long as you have not specifically blocked it in the firewall.

winbox and www ports don't need nat, unless you are sending that traffic to ANOTHER DIFFERENT device.

just set the winbox and www ports in services, and no nat rues.

Make sure you have input rules to allow those ports for winbox and www!

Yes, you are right about that. Nothing bad ever happens to good people. By the way, if you lock the doors to your house and your car, you are obviously a criminal and have something to hide.

Don't say never. If it has only been 3 years, I would be surprised if this isn't fixed within the next 5-8 years. Just be patient, give them a few more years.

Everytime I have ever tried to use simple queue to limit speed, the actual speed received or sent by the client is much lower than what it is set at. For example, limit at 10/10, no burst, the client actually maxes out at around 5/5. However, if I use Queue Tree to do the same thing, the client gets...

50-ft to clear 60% fresnal zone, and an additional height to clear trees (how tall are the trees?)

200-ft high on both sides should be sufficient... depending on trees.

You need a very directional antenna for that distance, with as much power as allowed by law in your country.

Nothing will protect 100%.

You MUST MUST MUST use shielded ethernet cable with a drain wire, and ground that wire at the bottom of the tower to a good ground.

That right there will cut down on damage a lot.

In addition to that, you can use commercial grade ethernet surge protectors.

Re: Bulk erase files

Once all the storage space is used, sometimes there is nothing you can do except netinstall... and then make sure in the future not to let it fill up.

Re: File sharing over routed interface?

I tryed to use windows file sharing between host (Win 7 Pro) and virtual os (Win XP Pro) running in VirtualBox. They were connected over ROS v6 also running in VirtualBox with this ip configuration: Win 7: 192.168.10.10/24 Gateway: 192.168.10.1 Win XP: 192.168.2.10/24 Gateway: 192.168.2.1 ROS: 192....

Re: FullDisclosure post / SSH remote crash / root?

As not to scare anyone, this is not a security vunerability! This requires a "special" installation onto the router, and at that point allows you to access the underlying linux system. This can NOT be done remotely! This is NOT a security issue at all! The ONLY way to use this vunerability is IF you...

I also vote to have this security problem fixed. Creating a new user does not clear the history.

Re: v6.2 released

SIP connections don't work in 6.0 and 6.1 and 6.2 They work good in 5.25 Did you do what I said worked for me in my last post? I am guessing you did not. I spent the last 2 days troubleshooting why sip would not work on 6.2 and it was the service ports. Disable them. Odd, I saw the first part of yo...

Re: User manager and Hotspot

Your clients never access usermanager. Your clients only see the hotspot files (login.html, etc). usermanager is ONLY for the administrator to see. Hi, I'm planning to deploy a Hotspot with User manager and user will be able to buy or create user online. But one thing i'm not sure that I understand ...

Re: Connect a router to the router

Hi guys :) I've never personally used MikroTik, but my ISP does, so here's the deal. They provide us with an ethernet outlet which works fine with the WIFI only router that they provide (it acts like a switch I think). The issue is that I need to log in from every device that I connect to the route...

Re: Upload speed on RB750GL

Hi Can anyone give me some pointers to increase my upload speed on my RB750GL? I have 100Mb Down/100Mb Up connection from my ISP. Upload is 5-10Mb and my download speeds range between 70-90Mb I’ve removed the firewall and NAT. There are no queues setup either. Is there anything else that I can try?...

Re: Autonegotiation falls back to 10Mb/s

My entone HDTV (iptv) only connects to my RB250GS with a speed of 10Mb/s, while the entone device is capable of doing 100Mb/s. I tried to set the speed manually but then it does not connect at all. I also replaced the UTP cable but no success. When I connected the entone to another switch I noticed...
