Re: Possible fix for hAP ac2 rebooting randomly

With NTP package removed, and SNTP client disabled, it was still rebooting every 5 days. I sent several supout files to support, after some of these reboots, but they never could find the problem. I think I have fixed it though, at least I am up to 11 days now without any reboots. I turned off the I...

Re: Possible fix for hAP ac2 rebooting randomly

I removed the NTP package and only used SNTP CLIENT ... and it still rebooted after a day.

So, now I have disabled SNTP CLIENT to see what happens. Has anyone else had a reboot while using sntp client, but not having ntp package installed?

Got a reply from Mikrotik. It is indeed a bug, and they said it "will be fixed in the future", which i'd guess is code for never. Don't say never. If it has only been 3 years, I would be surprised if this isn't fixed within the next 5-8 years. Just be patient, give them a few more years.

200-ft high on both sides should be sufficient... depending on trees.

You need a very directional antenna for that distance, with as much power as allowed by law in your country.

Nothing will protect 100%.

You MUST MUST MUST use shielded ethernet cable with a drain wire, and ground that wire at the bottom of the tower to a good ground.

That right there will cut down on damage a lot.

In addition to that, you can use commercial grade ethernet surge protectors.

Re: Forward rule drop invalid kills VPN passthru

I have a forward rule to drop invalid packets. Problem I have is when this rule is enabled, it drops all packets from machines connected via OpenVPN on another server through a dnat rule. How can I enable this rule but prevent it from dropping "invalid" packets from my vpn network? Change...

Re: v6.4 released

This proves that the Mikrotik does not test before they release a new version. Mikrotik leaves that job for us. Yup, and so far not a single word about this from Mikrotik! Imagine if you were a new user today, never used Mikrotik before, and you bought a routerboard, and you did the suggested upgra...

However, You can change DHCP Server to add the ARP table entry. Then change ARP on the interface in question to reply only. By doing t...

Re: Bulk erase files

Once all the storage space is used, sometimes there is nothing you can do except netinstall... and then make sure in the future not to let it fill up.

Re: File sharing over routed interface?

I tryed to use windows file sharing between host (Win 7 Pro) and virtual os (Win XP Pro) running in VirtualBox. They were connected over ROS v6 also running in VirtualBox with this ip configuration: Win 7: 192.168.10.10/24 Gateway: 192.168.10.1 Win XP: 192.168.2.10/24 Gateway: 192.168.2.1 ROS: 192....

Re: FullDisclosure post / SSH remote crash / root?

As not to scare anyone, this is not a security vunerability! This requires a "special" installation onto the router, and at that point allows you to access the underlying linux system. This can NOT be done remotely! This is NOT a security issue at all! The ONLY way to use this vunerability...

I also vote to have this security problem fixed. Creating a new user does not clear the history.

SIP connections don't work in 6.0 and 6.1 and 6.2 They work good in 5.25 Did you do what I said worked for me in my last post? I am guessing you did not. I spent the last 2 days troubleshooting why sip would not work on 6.2 and it was the service ports. Disable them. Odd, I saw the first part of yo...

Re: User manager and Hotspot

Your clients never access usermanager. Your clients only see the hotspot files (login.html, etc). usermanager is ONLY for the administrator to see. Hi, I'm planning to deploy a Hotspot with User manager and user will be able to buy or create user online. But one thing i'm not sure that I understand ...
