Re: Webfig skins (tutorial)

before webfig everyone asked for an OS independent interface. now it's backwards again :) pardon me, SSH ? secure, platform/OS independant, fast, clean... did i mention secure ? :) and i still wish, there was a way to disable webfig completely. i'd like to show _only_ graphs to my users (and on non...

Re: RouterOS v6.26!

Is there a version of firmware in the 6.x line that seems to be "somewhat stable"? Currently we are using a mess of firmwares, and I just want everything to be the same. Is there one version that is semi-reliable? We do a lot of PPPoE, RADIUS, OSPF, BGP, IPSEC, L2TP, DHCP. No VLAN, no Wir...

Re: Port forwards only work inside?

firewall rules should be on FORWARD chain not on INPUT . think, that INPUT is for traffic destined to router itself, while FORWARD is for transit. yes, NATed traffis is also "in transit". :) so, you have to enable those rules ##7-9. otherwise - i (personally) feel frustrated with DST-NAT r...

Re: Port mapping with WebFig 5.25

hi! for me it looks, that your rule lacks either dst-address or in-interface. otherwise it requests that ANY traffic passing through your router (to port 808) needs to be NATed. also, are you checking if the rule works from outside of the network or from inside ? as far as i know, NAT is done "...

Re: Installing Mikrotik on Dell Poweredge 2850

hi, trying to install on a Dell Poweredge 1850 SCSI, it tells: FATAL ERROR: no hard drives found any workaround? (ok, i have it with a double 73 SCSI3 HD, it seems stupid to me using a memory stick instead :-D .. at least I have to try to make it work!) it still seems, that MT has made no SCSI supp...

it's actually 'upload' of a 'target', i.e. traffic received on the interface :)

Re: Feature Request: MTR

while someone is talking about "bloatware" i would like to remind, that compiled binary is around 60K in size (v0.75, in centos weights 56K). and everybody is able to disable unneeded packages, if there is need to really squeeze something out. unfortunately these packages are much less gra...

Re: RB2011UAS-2HnD-IN fiber tranceivers problem

For those that are in the same boat as me, I publish the reply I received from Mikrotik support. the problem that you ran into is that your ISP switch supports only 100Base 155M SFP transceivers (as he already explained to you) but our RB2011 can use only 1000Base 1.25G Gigabit ethernet SFP transce...

You need to read everything on the page (i.e. at the bottom) "Pre-production samples for evaluation purposes will be available from Distributors, starting December 2012. Place your order for test units with your Distributor now!" Yes, I read it. This confirms it is not a Carrier Grade rou...

please, correct me, if i'm wrong, metarouter was only avialable on all single-core routerboards? and no metarouter support on any other hardware + on any hardware where more than one core is working? if it's true, then we can see absolute non-compliance with "backward compatibility" princi...

Re: Double QoS for v6 is possible

you just mark necessary address-list in Mangle, then set packet-mark in Simple Queue
Yes of course. But wouldn't be better to not have mangle rules at all? Simpler configuration.
however, it makes the rules itselve "a bit" harder to implement. and, less transparent.

Re: v6 rc7 released

This conversion should help when dealing with RouterOS:

Beta = Alpha
RC though x.16 = Beta
.16 and higher = Stable

I never deploy a new RouterOS release unless I absolutely have to, and always test the features I use on VM's before deploying it.
i just wander, if you do feel that it is right ?

Re: MetaRouter and 1100AH on ROS 5.8 not working?

seems that some "salespersons" have completely missed out that "new flagman model" is in fact less capable, than previous versions... just bought 3 units of 1100AHx2, and i'm really-really disappointed. no metarouter means a real hassle, when you try to use this single unit inste...

desktop tests (pulling trafic through MT) did show, that RB450G is aproximately 25% faster than 750G... 450G did some 350+Mbits in bridging and +- same in plain routing. no VLANS, no Queues, just plain traffic. 750G should be able to do 250-300Mbit, but not much more -- one should not forget, that m...

Re: Monitoring ???

explorer, oper, mozilla... choose your favorite graphical browser. anything starting with an old netscape will do.

of course, you could use more sophisticated apoproach, like SNMP monitoring, or setting up an MT dude somewhere.. but for monitoring 1 single appliance it would be an overkill.

Re: v5 licensing

no, xezen. all devices, including old RB133 are allowed to upgrade to v5 for free. If their old licenses tell you they can't, you can override that with Netinstall. are you saying, if i have a couple of old RB230 with old L4 V2xxx licenses, that have their license "upgradable until year 2006&q...

v5 licensing

i was just wondering - when current was v3 - L3&4 were stated as allowing upgrades until +1 major version (upto V4). - when current was v4 - +1 major version was "presented" to all - like v4 was not a major version, (so - everyone with L3-4-5 could upgrade until V5, and L6 until V6) no...

Re: Cpu load problem

seems, that IRQs for the traffic are really taking the gut out of CPU. actually, i've seen exactly the same on older (less multicore) systems. you could never get much more than one core loaded fully, and some other routine on other core(-s). however, muliple cores/cpus really let MT get around whil...

i've used to boot from USB stick on this server. worked quite nicely :)

and if you really do not need disc (storing logs? cache?), why use SCSI anyways ? for any other thing a cheap 1-2G USB flash seems to be more than enough.

author: ain't you falling through that transparent proxy on the board ?
try adding 127.0.0.1 or the IP of proxy to allowed sources.

also, try to create rule that keeps http requests to the router itself not falling into transparent proxy.
