The best practice is assign static ips outside the range of the dhcp server. If it does issue an ip you have assigned as static, there will be a challenge.

You will have to adjust the parts that don't work if it's different hardware. Even between same models make sure you remove device specific things like mac addresses on Ethernet interfaces.

It might be internal interference. Many people have reported difficulties when running 2 or more cards on the same band while using an RB433. I think if you search the forums you will find some threads regarding this.

According to the spec sheets for both the R2N and R52N the output power for 802.11g is the same as the R52H at 6Mbps(25dBm) and they are 1dBm higher at 54Mbps(21dBm). Also according to the spec sheet the N cards have notably better receive sensitivity.
