Re: routerOS on vmware hangs

So i basicly want to ask if anyone using vmware as a guest to vmware esxi server (latest hypervisor is 5.1 ), and if anyone having same issues. You need to patch hypervisor 5.1 to the latest version. Download patches from VMware and upload it to any of your servers datastore and do as follows. Down...

Re: routerOS on vmware hangs

Hi not sure if I fully understand your situation (you say "using vmware as a guest to vmware esxi server"). I'm running RouterOS (various versions in the 5.x branch) on ESXi 5.1 and having no problems if that's what you're asking. Rich Yeah it runs, but when i reboot routerOS, vmware host goes into...

Hi, i've a virtual mikrotik (on vmware esxi) , running for years. it was (iirc) 3.X when i purchased and installed it. since then, it was running perfect, and i 've done all upgrades without any problem. PCQ-QoS with some exceptions

Hi, I've a 16Mbps (with 4Mbps up) DSL connection, and a Lan with /24 network. Today i tried limiting bw per user according to some PCQ/QoS tutorials, on wiki, without success. What i want to achieve is: - max bw a user can get is 2Mbps down, 512Kbps up - a total of 10Mbps down, 3Mbps up can be used ...

Re: public ip behind mikrotik

Exactly. So again, you can just make your .2 a /24 as well, turn on proxy ARP, and route behind the Mikrotik router - but it would be far, far cleaner if you talked to the ISP and got them to insert a /30 like we discussed. Good luck! Tried proxy-arp, works as expected, will talk to ISP on Monday t...

Re: public ip behind mikrotik

Because a) presumably the ISP router isn't configured for a /30 right now, because they gave you a /24 - that's why they're expecting all IPs on that /24 to be directly connected to them, which they're not b) it's much easier for the ISP to route you your full /24, which they can't do if you're alr...

Re: public ip behind mikrotik

What i am trying to understand is,how does that differ if i use something else instead of 10.0.0.[1,2]
I mean why should i need any address that is not in my /24

Below is my exact setup right now
[ISP router]-80.1.2.1/30---80.1.2.2/30-[Mikrotik router]-80.1.2.254/30---80.1.2.253/30-[Server]

Re: public ip behind mikrotik

Actually I'm suggesting your ISP adds an unrelated /30 (could even be private - they are 10.0.0.1/30 and you're 10.0.0.2) between your router and theirs, and then they add a route for 80.1.2.0/24 via 10.0.0.2 (your router). You can then do whatever you want with 80.1.2.0/24 behind your router becau...

Re: public ip behind mikrotik

The canonical solution is to have that IP space routed to you rather than directly provisioned. Talk to whoever gives you that IP space to see if you can set that up. Alternatively you can set .2 as a /24 on the WAN side and enable proxy ARP, and then use smaller, overlapping subnets on the LAN sid...

routerOS 3.24 on esxi server 4.0

hi,
i've been looking for a workaround on installing routerOS (no scsi support), on esxi server (no ide emulation, scsi only).
still havent found a solution for that.
just wanted to ask here once again (i probably did ask some time ago), if anyone have solved that situation.
best regards.

l2tp server and client on same box

hi, i've 3 mikrotik v.3.22 running in different locations. one is l2tp server, others are l2tp clients. i decided to add an other tunnel, between 2 clients, say client A and B. i got 2 new DSL lines for both mikrotiks, and added those lines without default route. DSL lines have static ips, so i've add...

How did you setup your multiple public ip, I've been asking for sometime now and no help.

http://forum.mikrotik.com/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=30238
ive seen dozens of posts about this one,you may try searching subnet or public subnet etc.

hello,i got 8 ip addresses from my isp,and added them to mikrotik, all works. But all ip addresses use same gateway. what i want to do is,add some routing rules like this: for destination microsoft.com, use 88.88.88.10 for destination kernel.org,use 88.88.88.11 ..... for rest, use 88.88.88.17 PS. al...

Re: multiple l2tp tunnels

You might be able to dst-nat and redirect and route mark udp/1701 and try to use an alternate port but I am not sure if that will work since its on the output chain. Maybe you can use l2tp for one tunnel and pptp for the other ? that way you can route-mark tcp/1723 and proto 47 to use one gateway a...

Re: hotspot kills my LAN

do you think this can happen very often when somebody bridges their cards accidently? I've never heard such issues before i am not sure of the bridge, but imho, its the only possibility. if someone from LAN complains, tell him that the reason is that user with bridge - it's not your trouble! why th...

so 1 solution left for me.
disable hotspot, and use a basic dhcp server, and mac filtering (instead of giving user/pass to users) via firewall.
