Re: Issue with x86 platform

Hi,

Just setup a similar machine with results like yours.

By chance does your SuperMicro board have Realtek RTL8111C-GR Ethernet ports on it?

Re: Attaking to my router OS

You may want to try "Address Lists" as well under Firewall. Basically once you identify a hackers IP you add it to a Hackers list. Then a firewall rule drops anyone that is in this list. There are many great examples written by users here that will help you protect your system: http://wiki.mikrotik....

Re: x86 Machine - RouterOS 4.5 Crashing

Well it would appear that the Intel 82573 Gigabit PCI-Express Ethernet Controllers are doing the job. Not one problem since I switched. Strange that the Realtek RTL8111C-GR Gigabit Ethernet Controllers did not work. They are listed in the "Supported Hardware" list I found here: http://wiki.mikrotik....

Hi,

If you still looking for 4.6, I found this in a Google search.

Re: x86 Machine - RouterOS 4.5 Crashing

Hi Normis,

I believe your right, the problem keeps pointing to the Realtek RTL8111C-GR Gigabit Ethernet ports.

As a test I have put the machine back to 3.30 (same as my RB-1000), disabled the on board nics and installed a intel nic card.

So far so good, see what we see in the morning.

Re: x86 Machine - RouterOS 4.5 Crashing

Nope, Not DNS, If it was the machine would not function from the start.

And this machine uses the same DNS as the RB-1000 that works perfectly.

Re: How to access a public static IP address from the LAN?

The simple way to achieve this would be to create a NAT rule that forwards port 80 requests to the LAN IP address you have the webserver on. Public IP Port 80 Request > LAN IP Address Of Webserver Check this WiKi Article for help with the NAT rule, http://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Forwarding_a_port_to_...

Re: stream video from internet - bandwidth problem

Hi, Had that same problem with my system. It was all about the queues. I tried what you did increasing the packets and that actually made things worse. The solution for me was to implement a different queue type, here are the settings: Name: clientqueue (change to what ever you want) Kind: sfq Pertu...

Re: x86 Machine - RouterOS 4.5 Crashing

Yes, everything is powered by the UPS. It is currently running at 35% capacity and the voltages through the rack system are constant, 118 Volts. The Cisco 2821 is a Fiber Channel hand off to Ethernet. The x86 will take the place of the RB-1000 that is currently serving as the core router for the wir...

Re: x86 Machine - RouterOS 4.5 Crashing

Checked all cables with a Fluke tester, all passed. The cables being used are Cat6 cables 3 feet long Since the unit is plugged into a APC Battery Backup and none of the other devices plugged into it have problems I know it's not the power. The connections are as follows: Cisco 2821 Router - x86 Rou...

Re: x86 Machine - RouterOS 4.5 Crashing

More Notes On The Issue: I am pretty sure this issue has to do with RouterOS / Realtek RTL8111C-GR Gigabit Ethernet ports Here is why, I used Auto Negotiate for all tests and changed only the OS in the x86 machine, used same configuration. 3.30 - Will not connect at 1Gbps, connects only at 100bps/Fu...

Re: x86 Machine - RouterOS 4.5 Crashing

I downloaded the Ultimate Boot CD recommended by Feklar, After testing everything the Ultimate Boot CD found nothing wrong with the system, all tests passed. At this point I am beginning to believe that the problem lies with the Realtek RTL8111C-GR Gigabit Ethernet ports. What I need is a way to test...

Hi, Sorry for the delay in replying, As far as packages on the router, all packages are installed and enable. Re: x86 Machine - RouterOS 4.5 Crashing

Unfortunately the machine is locked up tight. Once it has crashed it must be rebooted. Prior to installing the RouterOS I plugged in a drive with XP on it and put the machine through all the standard tests, CPU, Memory, Hard Drives (as secondary's), Upgraded the firmware for all the devices. So far ...

I know this is a old thread, I found the wiki article quite helpful, so here is my contribution...

This is a Excel spreadsheet that will make all the calculations mentioned in the article. Just fill in the grey boxes with your numbers and the results will be displayed in the green boxes. Simple.

MikroTik RB411 and R52 Working With Tsunami 5054-BSUR

Hi, I am new to the MikroTik product line. I am currently running a wireless network that uses Proxim equipment only. I purchased a MIKROmini5 radio to see if I could make it work with my 5054-BSUR radios and have had no luck at all getting them to link. I am wondering if the Network Secret in the 5...
