v7.1 changes for routing marks

Hello! I see that something did change for marked packet routing. Could anyone explain how it works for v7.1 for making load balancing(one connection goes to isp1 second to isp2 then third to isp1 and so on)? In older versions it was mark packet for interfaces and then in routing make rules for thos...

Hello!
Is it possible to have CHR as ISO image so it can be installed on virtual machine easily like any linux-based OS?
Sadly provided CHR images are not universal enough so many VPS hosters refuse to install them.

Those will not take much space but will help a lot with keeping buffers low.

Awesome improvement MikroTik! :D
For me it works faster...
305mbit to 345mbit...
Are you sure your speedtest.net server gives full speed?

Re: RouterOS v7.0 beta1 - when?

As normis said here
Sometimes versions are released sooner if there is a critical issue that needs to be resolved. Sometimes we work on a bigger change, so version takes longer.

v7 is currently in internal testing, and will be released as beta when it's stable enough
So no exact date for us.

Be patient guys!
I'm sure they work on it but let's wait for their news.
Don't pus them, they should work without our pressure to make it good ^_^

Re: Got fq_codel yet?

fq_codel is really good thing for router or heavily loaded server.
Please add support of it into RouterOS.
It works well with HTB tree (as good as RED or SFQ).
It was ported to lot of kernels so it can be in RouterOS too.
Hope it can be done easily enough and you will add it soon ^_^

Re: Feature Request:SoftEther VPN

It is slow.
I tested it on several systems and it uses lot of resources.
It runs slow with random ping jumps on systems with less than 1G RAM.
It runs slow even on bigger systems without such ping jumps but using lot of CPU and RAM compared to other VPN solutions.

Mail was delayed so i write result here
It did not improve performance at all for my configuration and make router unresponsive.
Actually performance was lower and system locked during speed test.

Will 7.0 be based on kernel 3.14?

Will RouterOS 7.0 be based on kernel 3.14?
New kernel hes nice features that can be useful in Router OS.

Very large scripts are not working

I tried to use address list to block lots of IPs(using peerblock lists(after converting)). Around 1 million lines. I waited more than 6 hours and nothing happened(just cpu load increased to 100% on one core). All lines in file are like /ip firewall address-list add list=peerblock address="64.25...

Re: Queue size for 500Mbit/s

I use 4x2048 packet RED queues for 400mbit - there's no visible latency. Latency can appear when queue is full(but it's better to have 1-2ms latency than drops due congestion). You can test it yourself to pick best settings for your case. Commonly I don't use queues less than 512 packets(I used less...

Re: Queue Tree not working with packet marks

Hi all! I've had the same problem. And I even know the source: http://wiki.mikrotik.com/images/2/24/Packetflowv6.png According to new packet flow it uses queue BEFORE prerouting. So the incoming packets are marked after passing thru queue. So there's no way to mark packets that come from interface, ...

Re: 5.23 released!

have you set 'check-gateway=ping'? described behaviour is as it should be by design if check-gateway=none
Yes, check-gateway=ping .
This bug happens only when interface to reach gateway is defined manually.

Re: 5.23 released!

I've got strange behavior of routes in this version. It shows route as reachable even if gateway is completely offline. Only thing that it checks if the interface is up. P.S. I've got two interfaces to reach the gateway of my main ISP (188.231.196.1%ether1 and 188.231.196.1%ether2). And if gateway o...

Re: What hardware is needed for routing&aggregation 200Mbit?

I've tried 3.x on the same config and same ISP about year ago... It was 30-40% slower than linux routing... CPU load was 40-50% @10Mbit... and 100% @40-50Mbit...
