Re: MB+CPU which you recommend for RouterOS? With power like core i3, 2,5ghz?

@rado3105: It also depends on what you're trying to archive. I will never use crappy built-in network interfaces. Something like Intel I350-T4 is a reasonable minimum for high availability, but that entry-level card costs like $150 alone. I had DIY server-router on Linux for circa 3 years - it was ...

Re: Hardware of RouterBoard vs PC

Hi, Thanks for the reply. So for home (100meg broadband, playing games, streaming some videos across the network and hosting teamspeak, this should be ok? Larger scale, a PC will be better. What are people opinion on Mikrotik/RouterOS vs IPCOP? Thanks again. All those funny boards are dying with le...

Re: lost key rb133

this one should be correct: copy it, and paste it into any level of menu when connected with Telnet. Or connect with winbox and use Paste Key button in License menu. Hi, I have some old RB133c, I wanted to update to higher version (was 2.9.51), and after putting 3.30 (for key change), now it says D...

Re: Problem with License CLONED

Don't worry, 2 of people I know already installed it and working. I have a few license paid a long time ago so I don't need it. Now you can imagine how fast the spread was. hehe ... 1. tell them to misspell some web address (like ie: www.geygl.com) and to see what will open ... 2. tell them to chec...

Re: New x86 machine for ROS -Chipset Intel Z77 + Ivy Bridge

i would go for some intel q6600, or E8400 and some Intel 100/1000MBps cards,
it easily handles couple of GBps traffic ...

depends mostly of your needs,
will it be PPPoE server, VPN server, edge router with OSPF, NAT, Policy Routing, etc.

Re: Modern chipsets support (H77 Z77 X79) in ROS 6.x

@RusConSPb totally agree with you .... i3 ... heh ... even an old Pentium3 / 866MHz with Intel Pro/100s cards, mixed with wireless cards, acts much faster than majority of newer RB's i have tested. (plus it dont drop traffic with higher CPU usage) and those intel lan cards ... with hardware ack'ing ...

Re: Problem with License CLONED

you all should no worry about this "crack", since it have packed inside some very hefty trojan (system.npk is around 1.8Mb different, would like somebody to unpack it and post here, that "trojan part", not the cracking part) friends who tested said it do very nasty things, stealing passwords, email ...

Re: RB750 and v4.5, 4.6 problems (bugs)

1) question is ... why is that happening ? looks like ether2 is actually catching the bridge itself, that NS5 makes ... it's actually not a big problem, but ... it eats cpu resources, so cpu is always over 10-15% .... and it should be lower, as far as i know. Why do you think that green traffic is ...

Re: Block User By Hostname

@roland really great, but i have one request, if possible, it's about first script ... can you be kind to add in first script, if I enter manually host name, script to do : - find host's mac-address ... i dunno how to 'srcript it' - add to ip-binding as blocked /ip hotspot ip-binding add mac-address...
