I dont understand why people would use NStreme 2 anyhow? It halves the link reliability as far as I can see - i.e. there is no failover if one leg dies.

My reason for using them in that situation would be this : in case one of the links in the nstreme2 link breaks , have it run a script to flip the cards to ordinary AP & Station mode so traffic will continue to flow ( get it to send an email too) , otherwise the link will be dead.

I know proprietary systems like Redline and Motorola use this type of setup. It allows them to run a high end backhaul and use coax up to 1000ft up the tower to the outdoor unit. I think its the unshielded cards close to each other ( ie in the same board ) that does it. I suppose what you really need is this : Nstreme dual , involving 3 boards. One board/radio per antenna on the tower and one other board to combine the two.

I am trying to get TDMoIP to work with mikrotik radios but cannot get voice thru, we do not get any PCM-31 signal for voice.
Did you try set up an Eoip tunnel from end to end ? I did that with Tdmoip for voice and it worked well

Thats very straightforward to do , the only problem i could see is the 3 radios in MT2 with one long link might cause a problem . Maybe the new faster boards coming out might be available on time for this ?

If it was running fine for two months and the other link is working ok , it looks like a damaged radiocard , more so since some panels are not DC grounded ( ie if you stick a meter on the connector , it doesn't appear as a short at DC ) .

A few guys here running wind gennys had cm9s die because the battery voltage went very low , so maybe a low voltage disconnect would be a good idea. Though lately another lad has built a box for reviving corrupted roms on cm9s.

I think there are a few threads about this already , some omnis will blow cm9s because there is nothing to bleed away excess power on the omni or th e radiocard . Just try another type of omni.

If he's downloading a file from a site , it will be at 2meg as far as i've seen , maybe using a download manager he might get near 4meg.
What you may be looking for is bonding at your end and the exchange end , so you will have near 4meg.

I think you need to use Nstreme 2 to make a full duplex radio link first . Last time i looked at tdms ( over non-mikrotik links) they weren't too happy.

Why does the link usually break ? Is it water in cables/connectors or antennas going out of line ? Ideas i can think of kinda depend on it. Maybe you have the wrong antenna connector on the radiocard selected ?
If not try another pigtail , some new ones don't work so well.
If its quiet radiowise around you don't need much power to cover good distance ( with a good antenna on 2.4 , radiocard set to 1db will go > 30 kms )

You could have something wrong with your antenna/coax/radiocard , otherwise you wouldn't need the amp. ..Maybe there is non-wifi interference you are not picking up. ( may explain why no-one else is using that channel ).

Maybe you need a rb532p1 instead , it has no transformer onboard ( 12v only ) , it probably would be quieter.
Or remove the transformer and other components from the board you have if you have the tools/skill

If you are powering directly from a battery , you need a low-voltage-disconnect if you're using atheros cards. If the voltage goes really low , they will lockup permanently ( heard of it on a windpowered node )

Is there a "ping watchdog" on the client boxes ? ( this reboots the box if it can't ping the IP you tell it ), it would save you having to contact 60 people.

You can get clamp type N connectors for LMR , you can also get LMR400DB ( direct burial), it shoul dbe a bit more weather proof . The problem i've seen with crimp connectors is the cable is only secured by the braid ,and it seems to work a tiny bit loose after a while...Solder the centre pin on too .

Maybe in omnis the centre pin is not connected to the outer sheath at all....in directionals that i have opened the centre core is joined to the outer sheath by one of the dipole arms.I suppose this would stop static building and damaging the cm9

Even if you close everything else at your gateway box,Skype will get through a squid proxy , if you need to stop it in a hurry,transparently proxy at your gateway and put in regex in squid.conf that will drop CONNECTS to decimal ips...this works but will break other stuff too,and is far from ideal

I think if you don't have a hardware problem there must be a source of noise in roughly the opposite direction to your backhaul link,the panel would not pick up much from behind it.
Maybe as a test connect another panel to the cable going to the omni, scan around with it and watch the noise level
