Re: v7.1.1 OspfNeighbor received wrong LS Ack

Since the problem was still happening on 7.14 I asked if there was a particular target date or release for fixing this, this was the response.
it is reported, but as it was mentioned it has very low priority, I cannot say when it will be fixed.

Nowadays, this is usually mostly auto generated from the SW release/bug/feature tracking and planning system. Gittea, JIRA, TFS, private github or whatever MT is using. Yes, hopefully EdPa isn't typing these out every time with his(?) poor little fingers. Obviously they have JIRA for individual use...

Re: v7.14beta [testing] is released!

the changelog is rather vague.
Changelog quality is piss-poor.
I think an easy way to improve this would be to link to the relevant bug tracker case (MikroTik has one of these, right?) which would hopefully have more tech stuff for people to read over if they want.

I was always wondering what is the benefit of setting L2MTU to some "tight" value instead of leaving it at maximum value, supported by hardware. There isn't really any valid reason I can think of not to max out the L2/bridging MTU on your network. You are only causing yourself potential p...

Why bother with maps it's easy enough to find what netblocks they use. You can have a script count up unique occurrences out of your logs and give you a count. If you want to be evil you can always write scrips to update NAT rules to redirect attacks back to the source. Bad idea. If the source addr...

Re: Queue tree not seeing non IP bridge filter markings

Hi MikroTik team, any suggestions on how I can achieve this? Or is what I am looking for not possible?

Re: Queue tree not seeing non IP bridge filter markings

I think there may be a way around this by having a 3 tiered queue tree, the bottom layer with my match rule, the middle layer with my interfaces and the top layer with the limit.
After some thought I have realised that is not possible since you can't set an interface as an item in a queue tree.

Re: Queue tree not seeing non IP bridge filter markings

Update: My test ARP traffic only got hits on the queue when the parent of "aggregate" was set to the outgoing interface which was ether4. When the parent was set to bridge1 the queue did not get any hits (IP or non). I'm pretty sure I tried all combinations of the bridge settings for the f...

Queue tree not seeing non IP bridge filter markings

Hi, Having some issues with a config that I am trying to develop for a customer. What we are trying to offer is Ethernet connectivity delivered over 1 (or more) ports on a RB450 which must be subject to an aggregated throughput limit across all ports used to deliver the service. Protocol composition...

so why not just exclude x.x.x.0 and x.x.x.255 from the pool?
Well partly because I am lazy but also because if I am throwing rather large pools (ie /22 or larger) at my LNS it starts to become unmanageable to simply exclude the boundary addresses.

Re: Problem with user with improperly configured router...

Isn't above example exactly it? :) Seems to be a non optimal solution if it breaks certain IP connectivity on your network, do you have any kind of managed network device that is closer to the customer and capable of doing filtering? At my work our primary platform is Motorola Canopy which works gr...

Re: Problem with user with improperly configured router...

Have you considered doing ingress filtering on your customers to see if you can block out this nasty traffic?

Are you sure that your router hardware can handle it? Check System > Resources for CPU usage

How to stop PPPoE sessions being assigned same IP from pool?

Hello, I am running some 10-20 RouterBOARD as PPPoE LNS and am occasionally coming up against the following problem. Most of our users do not have a static IP so they are given an IP from a pool created on the MikroTik when they log in to PPPoE. It would seem that RouterOS default behaviour is to ke...
