PPP client restart script

Someone had posted a script that verified Internet availability though any PPP client and would restart that client and recheck until Internet access was reinstated. IIRC it was a popular script that had been around awhile, but for the life of me I can't find it via search, I'd totally appreciate it...

Re: Winbox Download

Winbox 2 is included with the router (router webpage), and is also available on the download page on mikrotik.com Of all the possible other things, not remembering layout is the least likely you will see in Winbox 3 :) actually Winbox 2 didn't remember layout, this is one of the best new things in ...

Winbox Download

I must be totally missing it, but where can I download the last good version of Winbox 2.x, and why is the beta 3 being pushed when it doesn't even remember window settings? So crazy??

CPU usage 100% on some cores

At any given moment at least one of the cores is pegged at 100% CPU usage. Is this causing increased latency on the traffic?

Limiting ICMP on input chain

RouterOS 6.24 on CCR1036 Trying to limit all ICMP destined for router to 10pp/s. When I have these rules in place the limiting doesn't seem to be functioning properly: as I ping the router from a remote host at a consistent moderate rate of 1-2pps, within a few seconds it's added into the ICMP attac...

Thank you gents for the replies, looks like the DynDNS is a simple solution that we'll use. Merry Christmas!

Validate Dynamic IP: Port Knock or other?

I'd like to script a MT with a dynamic public IP to validate it's IP with another MT router for access to certain otherwise closed ports. Is it possible to issue a port knock from a MT script? Or is there another clever way to continually update one MT's dynamic IP into an address list of another? T...

ISP Firewall Best Practices

This has probably been covered but I couldn't find it on a search. ISP's are for providing service, not firewall protection I get it; but I'm trying to put together some information on best practices for an ISP's firewall to prevent their users from participating in DDoS etc. traffic that will only ...

Re: Winbox Window Setting Forgotten

I didn't notice that you are using unstable v. 3 beta winbox. Use correctly working 2.x winbox and it will work as I wrote. Even 2.x is sometimes forgetting the windows layout, unfortunately. "Load previous session" does not work on Winbox v3. Try to use v2.x Wysłane z mojego Nexus 5 przy użyciu Ta...

Re: Winbox Window Setting Forgotten

Forgetting the layout in winbox is totally normal. The solution is to open winbox without loading previous session tickbox, set the layout again, close with the button and open again with tickbox marked. I don't understand your question and what you will do Can you more explane? Jarda- Thanks for t...

Winbox Window Setting Forgotten

Winbox v3.0b3
RouterOS v6.20
Windows 8.1

Ticked "Load Previous Session" option from WinBox but when I close a winbox session with red X or "Exit" the next session begins with a blank slate, nothing remembered. Am I missing something basic here? Thanks.

Whitelist dynamic IP

Client I'm working for is running a sophisticated VoIP system through a dedicated DSL circuit with a static IP. I've setup a MT on new DSL service which is faster and cheaper, however it's limited to a dynamic IP. Phone guy says he needs a static IP on the VoIP (for whitelisting into his servers) an...

The NTP client and server are available as an optional ROS package.

Basic package uses SNTP.
Yeah, performed an update through WinBox and the new v6.17 included this package - thank you!

Total bandwidth

We use PPPoE on a 2.9.50 MT box, FreeRADIUS server. All our plans offer symmetrical speeds - how can I shape each user's bandwidth so their upload + download = speed offered. So a 2MB/s plan offers 2MB/s up or down, but not both at the same time - aggregate 2MB/s I guess.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the responses, not quite tracking with what you're trying Chao, but I wasn't able to make anything work by adjusting the Delay, Repeat Interval, etc. on the advanced tab of the notification settings dialog box.

Any other takers, I'm assuming this isn't going to happen.

Is it possible to use The Dude to monitor Trango (Atlas) SUs associated to an AP? I would like to keep a running history of each individual SUs RSSI level at both the SU and AP side, temperature, and TX power level. I notice if you add the SUID to the end of Trango's OIDs that will poll that individ...
